Dramatic. This was what the 2011 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Belgium was like. It was action packed with flat out racing, tyres that somehow didn't seem to last long and pit lane tactics coming into play. The race at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit happened after a one month break from racing and the break must have rejuvenated Sebastian Vettel and the Red Bull gang as Vettel came in first ahead of his team mate Mark Webber and Jenson Button who had a well deserved third place after starting from thirteenth place.
I was instantly amused and attracted to this bit of news which I read over the net. It seems an associate professor (or in my opinion, a slightly mad scientist as who would have thought up such a thing) from the University of Alberta over in Canada has found a way to use parts of a cow (or anything bovine) to create plastic which would then become parts of a car’s interior.
Take a minute and examine the above photograph. I believe most readers would make the comment that the bonnet of the green Toyota Camry was sticking out of the parking lot too much.
The production version of Volkswagen's up! Small city car has been officially revealed ahead of its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The mini VW measures just 3.54 m long and 1.64 m wide, making it some 400mm shorter and 40mm narrower than the Polo. The production version will adopt a front-engine, front-wheel drive setup.
The very first official press photos of the new 2012 Porsche 911 were leaked onto the internet well ahead of the sports coupe's world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in mid-September. The new Porsche is closely modeled after the outgoing 997.
So Porsche has now come up with the new Porsche 911. Codenamed the 991, this latest iteration confusingly replaces the previous 997 based model and it sure looks similar. No one is going to rock the boat or shake the foundations within Porsche by coming out with a Porsche 911 that is going to look less like a 911 and more like, say a Maserati Gran Turismo, a Volkswagen Passat CC or a Kia Coup. So what we are looking at is basically the same outline, the same basic shape and the same basic curves like any other Porsche 911 that came before it.
My opinion of Mercedes Benz is this. With every new model brought out Mercedes Benz erodes what were supposedly boundaries that only BMW once held as the Ultimate Driving Machine. If you took a look at when the SLK first started out you wouldn’t even consider buying one over the BMW Z3 (at that point of time). But now with the latest R172 Mercedes Benz SLK I somehow feel that Mercedes have caught on, slightly, over the small BMW coupe in terms of overall feel. Now add AMG into the picture and things go even more skewered. This is why I believe that, with actual owning costs aside, the newly previewed Mercedes Benz SLK55 AMG out-trumps the BMW Z4 silly.
