Ward's Auto has just released its annual 10 Best Engines list. Without further ado, here are the award winners for 2012:

3.0-litre N55 Turbocharged DOHC I6 (BMW 335i Coupe)

3.6-litre Pentastar DOHC V6 (Chrysler 300/Jeep Wrangler)

2.0-litre EcoBoost DOHC I4 (Ford Edge)

5.0-litre DOHC V8 (Ford Mustang Boss 302)

2.0-litre Turbocharged DOHC I4 (Buick Regal GS)

1.6-litre DOHC I4 (Hyundai Accent/Kia Soul)

2.0-litre Skyactiv DOHC I4 (Mazda3)

3.5-litre DOHC V6 HEV (Infiniti M35h)

7 out of 10 of the award winners feature direct injection technology, which is meant to boost power and fuel efficiency. 50% of the winning entries are fitted with either a turbocharger or supercharger. This outcome should not come as a surprise as more companies are offering these technologies on their motors. A case in point is the VW 1.4-litre

  • Is 'tiny living' really irrelevant in Singapore?

    I discussed the possibility of living in tiny houses in Singapore in an earlier blog post. But as we know, it isn't an option to begin with – no thanks, of course, to our lack of land space.  Someone also pointed out that the idea of tiny houses is "romanticised" – which, I don't deny (but hey, that's why it's a dream).
