blogentry-133713-0-59354000-1462237286_thumb.jpgAs reported by Bimmerpost, BMW has presented its new 3.0-litre quad-turbo diesel engine at the recent 2016 Vienna Motor Symposium. Displacing 3.0-litres in capacity, it makes use of two low pressure turbos and two high pressure ones to push out more power than its tri-turbo predecessor while gaining an estimated 5 percent improvement in fuel consumption.

It is rumored to make its debut in the new 750d xDrive and will allow the luxury sedan to sprint from naught to hundred in approximately 4.5 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250km/h. Expect the engine to feature in other M Performance vehicles too.

I wondered if turbo add on are deem to improve fuel efficiency and delivery power, why after so many years so few car manufacturers are adopting them.

Extrapolating this trend, wouldn't it be great if a 500 cc engine strapped with turbo can deliver power equivalent of a 1600 cc engine.

I wondered why they have not been marketed. Is is because of technological limitations or just pure business strategy.

I feel happy about a new beginning but nervous and, at the same time, sad over the closing of a chapter.  It's complicated. A
