A set of Michelin Super Sport tyres for a Bugatti Veyron will set you back around S$40,000. 40 grand? Yup, that is the price to pay for when you want the tyres to be able to withstand a thousand horsepower and a maximum speed of more than 400km/h. But that is nothing compared to the world's most expensive set of tyres.
Made by Z Tyre, this set has been sold for a crazy S$810,000. And that is enough to put them in the Guinness Book of World Records for the title of the 'World's Most Expensive Set of Car Tyres'.
So why does it cost so much? That's because the tyres have been dressed up with 24-karat gold and embedded with diamonds. Hmmm... not sure that would give additional grip over any conventional tyres....
