Lamborghini to cap annual supercar production
With its upcoming SUV, the Urus potentially doubling its production figures, Lamborghini is looking to cap its supercar production at 3,500 units per year. Does that mean that Lamborghini is giving up their image of being a super sportscar brand?
According to Reuters, which interviewed Chief Executive Officer Stefano Domenicali, they "will remain committed to the performance and exclusivity of its supercars".
Lamborghinis are set to be more common on the roads as the expected annual production figures will hit 7,000 units. To cope with the demand, worldwide dealer network is set to increase from 132 to 160 outlets.
The Urus SUV will be powered by a 4.0-litre V8 turbocharged engine, which is a step away from its norm as all its recent supercars have been naturally-aspirated. The all-wheel drive SUV is likely to go on sale in 2018 and will be based on the current Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga.
