blogentry-133713-0-50110500-1483614355_thumb.pngIt is now very common to have cars that don't require a proper key to lock or unlock the doors and start the engine. While we believe the bulk of us would leave the smart key fob in our pockets, some of us would prefer to throw it inside the armrest, or into the cup holder or another storage place before driving off.

Question for those who leave the key around the car, what would happen if your naughty kid decides to throw your key fob out of the car while you are driving? Will the car shut down by itself once you come to a stop? Or will it start alerting you at once?

My wife and I experienced once with my son driving to airport in his Peugeot 308. Upon destination, he alighted with his overnight bag n I took over n drove off deciding then to dine at the airport eateries.

After parking, the engine can't be switched off in the absence of car key. Realising then that the key was with my son. I called and managed to catch him just few minutes before he cleared the immigration. However, I got to leave my wife to look after the car with engine running while I picked up the key from him in order to turn off the engine.

Question:

1, What if my Son already took off from land, what do I do without the car key to switch off?

2. Presumably, without spare key in another hypothetical situation?

Note: this model does not seem to be able to switch off engine without possession of car key!

  • It's okay, you're just feeling ambivalent

I almost always struggle to describe my state of mind when asked to consider how I'm feeling. How do you express emotions that exist together but work in opposition to each other? When invited to join a gathering with friends, I delight over the prospect of catching up but also yearn to be lounging at home. I'm inspired by an accomplished co-worker yet envy her. I feel happy about a new beginning but nervous and, at the same time, sad over the closing of a chapter.  It's complicated. A
