Little Toyota remote control car goes up against the real thing
The Toyota Hilux is known as one of the world’s toughest vehicles braving the world’s most extreme environments. Can its scale size model live up to a series of challenges thrown at it too?
Commissioned by Toyota U.K., the team puts the full size Toyota and the Tamiya Hilux Bruiser 4X4 model through authentic, real world tests, side-by-side. In each case there is no trickery; the challenges show the genuine capabilities of both the Hilux and the Bruiser, a 1:10 scale kit that itself is based on an earlier Hilux design.
Said to have a huge following around the world, the remote control car challenge was inspired from a a famous 1980s stunt in which a fleet of radio-controlled Bruisers successfully hauled a Hilux at Tamiya’s headquarters in Japan. Fast forward to today, can the little cars repeat the feat with the larger and heavier real Hilux?
For those who want to see more, Toyota also have other films in the series that showcases the adventure of the Hilux and its famous little sidekick. Tamiya assembled and maintained the vehicles throughout all the filming.
