blogentry-133713-0-02443300-1507798662_thumb.jpgSergio Marchionne, CEO of Ferrari and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, has confirmed that Ferrari will build an SUV and will be ready in a couple of years' time.

According to Bloomberg, Marchionne has stated that “Ferrari is beyond just considering an SUV and will take about 30 months to decide on production, which will be limited to preserve exclusivity.”

“We’re dead serious about this. We need to learn how to master this whole new relationship between exclusivity and scarcity of product, then we’re going to balance this desire to grow with a widening of the product portfolio,” said Marchionne, who referred to the model as an “FUV.”

After years of denying that it will develop a SUV, Ferrari finally jumped into the SUV bandwagon as it intends to expand sales on a large scale through 2022. A four-door model could also be a possibility after the launch of the SUV.

Ferrari CEO and Fiat Chrysler Chairman Sergio Marchionne recently spoke on the phone with financial analysts and responded to the question of whether or not Ferrari would build an SUV, and his reply was, "You have to shoot me first." We're guessing that's a no, but not necessarily a flat out "never".

And then there's Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari’s senior vice president of design. Talking at Vivid Ideas 2016, the Asian Pacific Innovation conference, Manzoni responded to the question as to whether or not Ferrari would follow the luxury SUV trend by premier automakers and said that "an SUV cannot be a Ferrari." He further went on to say, “For Ferrari, we are not followers. We make sports cars. If we are fighting every day to lower the centre of gravity, to position the engine as far down, and as balanced, as possible, and improve the performance, why do we have to make an SUV?”

Can eat their own words. Only last year.

  • It's okay, you're just feeling ambivalent

I almost always struggle to describe my state of mind when asked to consider how I'm feeling. How do you express emotions that exist together but work in opposition to each other? When invited to join a gathering with friends, I delight over the prospect of catching up but also yearn to be lounging at home. I'm inspired by an accomplished co-worker yet envy her. I feel happy about a new beginning but nervous and, at the same time, sad over the closing of a chapter.  It's complicated. A
