New caliper design from Brembo for supercars

blogentry-133713-0-40609800-1522666051_thumb.jpgWeighing only 400g per wheel, Brembo has unveiled a brand new brake caliper design for high performance cars at the recent 2018 New York auto show.

 

With the new design, the caliper is said to be eight percent lighter than rivaling product while offering the best weight-to-stiffness ratio ever for a cast aluminium caliper. Thanks to the company’s 45-year-long involvement in motorsports, stopping power is also said to have increased.

 

blogentry-133713-0-35199600-1522666054_thumb.jpgBuilt using the a technology called topology optimisation, the software allows engineers to simulate the stiffness of a component and identify excess material. This results in some material reduction on the edges of the caliper.

 

As expected, the new caliper can be matched perfectly to the shape and colours of different models and is now seeing action in the Pagani Huayra.

    I discussed the possibility of living in tiny houses in Singapore in an earlier blog post.
