Bluefreud Clutched June 16, 2008 Share June 16, 2008 hi , found out that i have to keep topping up water in my radiator everyday, though it's not alot, maybe like 50 ml of water. i found it strange cos last time i only need to top up like once every 2-3 wks. went for a check, nothing leaking but my mech suggested maybe my radiator cap old already and needs to be changed. also asked abt my water temp gauge cos now water temp very high, ave 100 degrees celsius which i thot also abit strange, then he said might be because my sensor not accurate. hmm.. i dont really know what's wrong. wonder can any one have any suggestions? the only recent thing that i have done is to change to new knn air filter from old knn-type air filter. thanks. :) ↡ Advertisement
Apollo 1st Gear June 16, 2008 Share June 16, 2008 after u driven, pop open bonnet with the engine running and look. a few type of leak. sometime, the hose leak can see either a stream of hot jet coming fr hose, or steam coming fr hose. otherwise is radiating top pichar. also depend on coolant, if u hv not replace them after 2 years, time to do so, they hv basically lost their properties already. do total flush and go for redline water wetter. pay a bit more. Trex101 3rd Gear June 16, 2008 Share June 16, 2008 When is the last time you change your thermostat? Your thermostat maybe old already and not as effective anymore causing your water temp to raise, thus hot vapour may escape through the radiator cap. Kyojin 1st Gear June 16, 2008 Share June 16, 2008 1. internal leak - any white smoke from exhaust? 2. thermostat - can do it yourself, not too hard, but needs some hands-on. 3. radiator cap - maybe it's old and spring not tight enough 4. hose leak - cracked hoses? loose hose clips? Jamstart 1st Gear June 16, 2008 Share June 16, 2008 Bro, I think the high chance is the radiator cap. It may be worn off and you are not aware. I think I have a similar case before and after changing it, it sovled the problem. Check the cap youself to confirm.

Jamstart 1st Gear June 16, 2008 Share June 16, 2008 After driving, immediately open the bonnet and check the cap, see if there is any leaking or hissing sound around. Like one of the bro here mentioned, it can be the radiation rubber tube as well. So just do a thorough inspection that is connected to the radiator. Albeniz Turbocharged June 16, 2008 Share June 16, 2008 I used to encounter a similar issue where the water level dropped and some dried water stains could be seen near the reservoir tank. After changing the thermostat, it solved the problem.
