Juz curious, anyone bought one of these b4? http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/listing.php?CAT=20

Is the 10-yr COE valid from the time it's registered in Sg or from the original date of registration overseas? Eligible for full parf rebate? [gossip]

Yes , COE from date of registration in Singapore . If you wants full PARF , you will then need to deregister the car as per 10 years from the original date of registration .

Do note that a lot of used imports , especially those from UK develops rusty undercarriage due to the snow salt used in those roads during winter .

Haha , but if I am not wrong , the COE WILL be pro rated . You also get back your unused COE . Except for the first 2 years where it be will a flat 20% gone , the remaining years are based on 10% of the COE value per year basis .

I'm also curious ... so what is the advantage in buying an Import Vehicle ...

Price

But must be careful - from what I hear, many of them are either

a) different (cheaper) spec and not so suitable for our weather (eg: lesser cooling, lesser aircon power)

b) Accident vehicles - Europe and US have pretty strong database of accident vehicles, so one that is damaged can be checked, we can't do that same level of checking here

Of course - differences in regional pricing strategy could be a part of it - and for rare vehicles this could be an explanation, just do be warned, for very rare vehicles, all the more you might have warranty / servicing issues if you go outside the official dealer

Sounds like a lot of risk ... [nod]

Like all things - depends on your knowledge, your level of comfort and what you want out of a car I guess.
