TV shows to recommend

(I did a search & couldn't find the thread related to TV show, so I might as well start one again)

I shall kick start with my first recommendation, Marco Polo (Netflix originals)

Surprising, with the among of local talents on show, Marco Polo wasn't much talk about here.

Veteran actor Chin han playing the main antagonist Cricket Minister Jia Shidao, & Tan Kheng Hua as the Song Dynasty Empress,

It was available on Netflix (think its still unavailable in Sunny Singapore yet) since Dec 12 (in 50+ countries).

I was excited but a bit skeptical of the show when I first saw the trailer, but all doubts were removed when I eventually watched the show. It was a mini series, 10 episodes in the first season. It started slow but picked up pace at around episode 4-5.

Some nice & breathtaking settings & drama, & a bit of Martial art fantasy (but not overkill).

The story (at least season 1) is as much about Marco Polo as is Kublai Khan, Grandson of Gengshi Khan, who have now conquered much of Northern China, with eyes on of taking over the South.

The story started by Vatician Marco, traveling with his Merchant father to the court of most powerful man of its time, Kublai Khan, to secured the silk road for trading & spread Christianity. When things went sour, he offered his son Marco Polo as servant to the great Khan, which the story unfold.

I do not want to spoiled too much, just watch it.

2. The Walking Dead

3. Homeland (this season 4, I find particularly good)

I heard a lot about Breaking bad, but never watched.

It's one of the best.

Actually, it was the primary reason why I started watching tv series recently.

Breaking bad? I have watched it. Slow paced and boring most of the time. The story is good but too draggy for me. Cooking meth isn't really exciting to watch.

Walking dead? No watch yet coz not into zombie shows. I think it only appeals to Americans.

Homeland. First few seasons are not bad (coz can see naked Morena Baccarin LoL...) but can be slow paced and boring. Latest season is better, more CIA spy action/operations(starting to look abit Jason Bourne -ish), no naked woman though, plot is thicker dan first few seasons.

I'm now waiting for Game of Thrones season 5 which will start April 2015. LoL...long wait. I have never liked fantasy shows but this is too good to pass somemore got porn bits to go with it. Haha... Overall like the story. One of the best tv shows out there now.

House of cards is excellent too

Fun facts:

House of Card on Netflix is a remake of a 90s British series of the same name.

Loved Boardwalk Empire. Starred Steve Buscemi. Some of the producers were Martin Scorsese and Mark Wahlberg. All 5 seasons completed.

BE very good.

Also must watch The Wire.

Few of the others mentioned above just not my cup of tea.

I also liked Black Sails although to much swearing for my liking.

if you like sitcoms

big bang theory and modern family is pretty good.

I also like white collar but just ended its run.

Suits is smart. but got a bit draggy in later seasons.

The blacklist is interesting, but not for everyone. a little far fetched but entertaining.

If you like intelligent drama, The Newsroom and House of cards are highly recommended
