Hi Skodians, I believe most of us would have received a letter from Harvest regarding this topic title.

I need some advice:

Besides the normal servicing that has to be done at Exclusiv, what items can we do outside that does not void the warranty?
Another way of putting this is what has to be done at Exclusiv within the warranty period which cannot be done elsewhere?

Why I ask this is because I went for my 30k servicing and they suggested I change my battery. It cost me over $200, which my friends told me is too expensive.

Thanks and looking forward your experienced advice!

Chk out the skoda discussion at www.vagsg.com.
From the thread.. the batt cost 170 if u change outside including labour but must call before changing
Changing at harvest is more ex coz they will factor in $40 labour charge which I feel is uncalled for since they are already servicing the car and they wont take 1 hour to change batt

I don’t think anyone can give u a straight answer on what u can do outside that will risk your warranty.. the only party who can answer u is harvest
By logic anything that does not affect parts under warranty u can do outside

The only thing I feel about the 5 years warranty, what is actually under warranty...eg..a new car ABS failed in 18 months at 22,000km, signal relay failed in 20 months at 23000km, fuel pump failed in 23 months 26,000km, all these were called wear and tear in my case....my car warranty was 3 years or 60,000km.

Need to ask them.

Normal warranty extension covers engine and gearbox. Other moving parts in car are deem as wear and tear. Name me one that is not. I myself struggling when Borneo throws me this question. Think abt it, I wasted money signing up for this.

Battery, tires wipers (wear and tear) you can change outside. Just dun mod your car and it will be fine. I asked all these questions when i sign on the dotted line and they put in in my contract. go see yours

I'm not a Skoda driver but i would like to comment.
if the warranty extension is not expensive, it will be good to extend.
like what some mcfers had mentioned, they had faced wear and tear and you will not know what will happen for the next two years (getting older).
as for battery, just get it change from any car battery workshops, definitely cheaper comparing to the insane >$200 (probably, ~$150 or less).

Does anyone know how sticky Harvest is about mods in general? Anyone tried claiming warranty with a chipped engine?

Dont waste ur money on extension. Basically in a car most are moving system and ages when it gets older or rather call wear and tear. Transmission and engine are build much tougher to last them in years to come. You just need to confirm with ur agent wat is covered abd .wat not. If only cover engine and transmission than imo no point to waste money

that is really crap,
all should be under warranty one,
unless all those items have mtbf of under 2yrs...

Sorry for the late reply, my bitching about my Skoda has been a while. Drove my Mondeo for about 4 years now, at least in my Mondeo, the 5 years warranty includes battery, to my surprise. And so far so good.

Everyone is a pathetic old man, except yourself, and by the way, go buy a coffin, you too will die one day, with all your cussing. TCSS has great people, in true light, I burn all my bridges, leaving these good people alone. Not a dictator like you make me out to be, because I have one thing you don't and never will have, RESPECT for my friends. Take care guys and gal! :D

For your information, DSG aka tranmission found in Volkswagen car are not meant to last. It has been problematic worldwide. U know the relationship betweem Volkswagen and Skoda right?

not too sure about the relationship in details but know that Skoda produced old VW. Cannot imagine the new VW if the old and trusted ones are not good.
