We found another way to mount GPS unit on the dashboard...Place it close to the windscreen and let the the GPS unit rest at a slight angle on it like in the photo.Had a good view of the display without a need of a protruding cradle.

Yes...tissue box is no problem but it has to be placed flat not vertical as the weight may be too heavy to hold.
