How to stomach this?

The Associated Press (CNN) reported that a car plowed into a weekend bicycle race along a highway near the US-Mexico (MONTERREY) border, killing one and wounding 10 others, police said.

The 28-year-old driver was apparently drunk and fell asleep when he crashed in the race, said police investigator Jose Alfredo Rodriguez. A photo taken by an official of the city showed cyclists and equipment launched high into the air by the collision.

Rodriguez said Juan Campos was charged with murder Alejandro Alvarez, 37, of Monterrey. Authorities said the wreck happened 15 minutes in the 34 kilometers (21 miles) race Sunday along a road between Baghdad and Playa Matamoros, across from Brownsville, Texas.

Campos said he is a U.S. citizen living in Brownsville. The USA Consulate could not immediately confirm that.

You mean this?

Spectators watched in horror as the driver of a rally car sped off a winding dirt course in Chile, hit seven people - then carried on to the finish line.

Police said a policeman and his 10-year-old daughter were seriously injured. Five others suffered minor injuries. Driver Jordy Ceron was detained by police at the finish line.

The multi-stage race is held on rural dirt roads across Chile.

but this is not the first time accidents occur involving spectators in rallys, especailly dirt track ones.

Just don't understand. Aren't the spectators courting death by standing next to the road and around bends in these races ?

Don't anyone (organisers and spectators alike) have any common sense at all ? When accidents like these happens, who's to blame ? The driver ?

But this case, the driver shouldn't have sped off and tried to continue with the race ..... whip.gif
