What is MCF?

MCF stands for MyCarForum

Why can’t I start a topic?

Users with less than 25 posts will be unable to start new topics. You will only be able to reply to others. The only area where you can start new topics is in the Testing folder.

How does the ranking for MCF members work?

We reward members who actively participate in the forum by awarding them higher ranks. Ranks are tied to the number of posts made in the forum.

1st Gear - 50 posts
2nd Gear - 100 posts
3rd Gear - 250 posts
4th Gear - 500 posts

Supercharged - 5,000 posts
Turbocharged - 7,500 posts

How come I can’t add an event to the Calendar?

Events added to the calender will not be shown immediately as they have to be vetted by the admins/mods. If it is approved, the admins/mods will display it out on the calender.

How does the warning system work?

Members that violate the forum rules will get a warning. This warning is symbolised by a yellow card. Once 3 yellow cards are accumulated, an automatic ban will be imposed on the member. However, for serious violations of forum rules, an immediate ban may be issued.

Warnings will expire 6 months from the date of issue. However, bans are permanent.

I've got a question about email notifications.

Before the recent MCF forum "renovation", I used to receive email notifications if someone replies to a post I put up in any thread (whether or not it's started by me).

But now, I don't get them. I tried going through "my controls" and looking for settings that'll turn that on, but don't seem to have any. I checked everything in "Email Settings", but it doesn't have the required effect.

Is that function still available?

Hi,

Try going to "My Controls" > "Email Settings".
Tick "Enable 'Email Notification' by default?".

This way, you will receive emails whenever someone replies to a post you put up in any thread (whether or not it's started by you).

I would advise you to choose "delayed email notification" to prevent your mailbox from being flooded.

Over the years, we have seen spammers in our forum. This measure help us to curb such action where it enable us to track the posting behaviour. If one were to come in and clock 25posts within a day. After which, he/she start a thread and the thread happens to solicite/advertise a product/services. His account will automatically be disabled without any notice given.

Should there be a need for you to start a thread to seek opinion from fellow MCFers, you can seek the help of others to help you to create such thread.

Thanks.

I got the email notifications to work. Thanks!

However, the emails I used to get on the old MCF forums were notifications when people reply to MY post. The emails notifications I get now are notifying me of people's replies to the thread - not just to me. I want to only receive email notifications when people respond to MY replies, not notify me whenever there's any reply to the thread.

Can't seem to find an option for this. It used to be the main reason I visit MCF, but now i cannot keep track of my posts.

Solution? Thanks so much in advance! :)
