hi all...

i just happen to pass by the Dodge temporary showroom at Bt. Timah...

saw the latest 2010 Dodge Journey 2.4L Crossover vehicle...

i always though american cars were cheaply built, and had high cc engines...

but the $99,000 car really surprised me with well screwed together interior, soft-touch plastics on the top of the dash, plenty of storage space and the 2nd row of seats was really spacious!!

bar the 3rd row of seats, which i'll most probably fold down, or ask Chrysler-Dodge dealer to bring in the 5-seater model if i'm really interested...

will be going down to test this model after CNY...hope it drives well...

but American reviewer said the 2.4L 170bhp engine is sluggish, ride is harsh and bumpy and steering is lifeless...

but i gotta admit this car looks great!! thumbsup.gif

yup...actually in real life, looks pretty sleek for a car this size...

the length of 4888mm also quite a nice number right??

comes with 6 airbags, partial electric front seats, cooler glovebox, under-floor secret compartment, flexi-seats, factory touch screen audio system (though sound quality sucks), rear roof-mounted round air-con vents with independent controls...

the space is really impressive for this car though...especially in 5-seater mode...

the model here available is the RT model...mid-spec version...

SE is the most basic model, SXT most premium model...but SXT only available with 3.5V6...

but really the mid-spec model not too shabby lah...

Dodge moving to new showroom this week, but official opening is after CNY i think...

it's at 1 Chiang Charn Road...just off Hoy Fatt road, along Leng Kee...

pre-launch promo $99,000 with free 1st 3 months installments...

oh, is the Dodge Journey build in Mexico??

i'm expecting 7km/L for this 2.4L crossover vehicle...can't expect much can i??

space wise, it's strangely similar to the Proton Exora...wide 2nd row seats, high seating position etc...

Proton 1.6L 125bhp 0-100kph 14.3s, fuel consumption between 8-10km/L...S$62,999

Dodge 2.4L 173bhp 0-100kph 11.5s, fuel consumption of around 7-8km/L bah...S$99,000...

i'd take the Dodge anytime man...

Obama wants US exports to be increased to make up more of the GDP.

Might see more American cars on our way here.

Lets see if they can send us at least one muscle car.

i think the Journey really does appeal to medium-sized families here...

tonnes of storage space, and i especially love the cooler glove box compartment...

just to correct, the model we have here is the SXT model, which is the mid-spec version, not the RT, which i said earlier...the RT is the highest-spec model...

the journey has the looks of a crossover, a hybrid between MPV and SUV...so you get the practicality of MPV, but without the opiang looks of a large MPV...

Very truck like... But the interior is also really basic... Typical american...

Will be interesting to see how it compares with the Kia Sorento

If you check this ride in Youtube, it looks good in terms of space when compared to Sorento.

boot space with all seats up definitely more than Sorento...seats are also very flexible to operate...

build quality has a more premium feel to it too, compared to Sorento...

to me, the Dodge Journey looks better than the Kia Sorento to me in real life...

both are actually using hyundai-chrysler developed engines too...2.4L with 173bhp, but Dodge only has 4A/T, while the Kia has 6A/T...

just to point it out, the above pictures reflect RT top-of-the-range model...that comes with 19inch alloys externally...

ours is the SXT model, with 16inch alloys only...

and don't be fooled by the dull-looking, plasticky interior...

it's really well-built and well assembled together...soft-touch plastics abound in the cabin, especially the doors and dashboard...

the JOurney is Dodge's solution to address their poor quality cars they have been building over the past few years...
