Super buttery smooth suspension is certainly 1 of the nice things I like about the 3-point badge

i think my dad's current e250 avantgarde interior looks nicer and better built quality than our previously S-class (S280) a few yrs ago.
maybe its just me hehe but i like the 2 tone contrasting look interior wise, even though exterior is still quite boring for the younger generation. |

For me, I like the Merc for its comfort. Going over bumps on the road doesn't feel so bad because of the airmatic suspension. The steering is light and easy to handle. It pick up from the Kompressor engine is good enough for me to overtake is needed. The handling is great. The C class advantgarde look really makes it classy without the ah pek image. I really love this car. Coming to 1 and a half years now.

Bought the C200 (W204) Kompressor recently.
Compare to BMW 3 series which we previously owned. Merc C200 - Lighter steering wheel at slow speed - Like the Kompressor engine, fast pick up at lower rev. - Not used to the foot parking brake. Always forgotten about the park brake after parking the car. - Interior is more refine than BMW 3 series ( E46 & E90) - 1.8L engine but 184hp, higher performance engine at lower road tax for a 1.8L. Not bad. BMW 3 series - Steering is heavier, and handling feels more sportier (psychological effect??) - Weight distribution is 50-50 so handling should be better, but C200 is 52-48. Unless you push both cars to their limit, else difference is insignificant. - E46 has better interior than E90, which E90 feels more plastic. But the C200 has the best interior. - Never like the run-flat tire, the steering feels heavier during parking. Both cars perform wonderfully on NSH and cornering, feels like seated inside a capsule, good sound proofing. Can't feel the car travelling at 100km/h on SG road. How about those very old 200E? I'm thinking of getting one after I finished the installment for my van.
For my wife to fetch kids to and from school. Is it a reliable car? |

Agree with what you wrote. The Merc is more for comfort and cruising on the roads. The interior is definitely nicer than the 3 series. Steering is light on low gears but on higher gears and at higher speeds, the steering will stiffen up. I also like the way the suspension stiffens up when you press the Sports button. I like the BMW 3 series too. My wife and I bought the BMW 318i last year Oct when my Opel Astra gearbox started giving problems. I know that there are many who pooh pooh the car but this car is just right for our kind of roads. We chose the car over the Volvo V50 because it had a wider boot space for the pram. It was also a lot cheaper and made in Germany. Coming back to the Merc. I still feel it has an edge over the BMW in terms of comfort. I like the Merc and also the BMW. But I prefer the Merc better for the overall package. My wife feels the same way too. We sometimes fight over who drives the Merc for the week. |
