Rare Jaguar XJ220 left to wither in Qatar?

Ever wonder what happens to all those supercars that go to the Persian Gulf? After seeing this images, we kinda wished we hadn't.

This Jaguar XJ220 – a veritable poster child for the dawn of the modern supercar era, the one-time standard bearer of the 200 MPH Club and one of only 281 produced – made its way from Coventry to Lebanon, then through a Dubai dealership before finally ending up in Qatar.

With only 900 kilometers (560 miles) on the odometer, this big cat has clearly been subjected to more abuse than any supercar lover (or animal rights activist) could possibly stand to see.

Roaring ahead to a believed world record price at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show auction in November, was a 1994 Jaguar XJ220 that was once owned by the Royal Family of Brunei. With pre-sale interest from around the globe Silverstone Auctions eventually sold the car for a premium inclusive £247,500 to a buyer from Singapore. Silverstone Auctions ends the year with a bang achieving a total sales value of more than £4.5million

Not on the road, anyway. Its too new to be eligible for registration for a classic plate and too old to be registered as a regular vehicle. But there's a number of exotics on this island that are in the same category anyway, like the McLaren F1 and Ferrari F50.
