SINGAPORE - A man was sentenced yesterday to three months and two weeks in jail for threatening to tarnish Borneo Motors' reputation if he were not given S$100,000.

Khoo Yee Tien, 26, had contacted at least three Borneo Motors customers last October and claimed that the automobile company deliberately caused mechanical problems to their cars after they sent them in for repairs at its service centre.

Khoo admitted that he had sent out the text messages to its customers when a service manager at Borneo Motors, Mr Mah Yoke Yu, 42, contacted him about the matter. Khoo threatened to send out more damaging messages if his demands for money were not met.

He instructed Mr Mah to deposit an envelope with the cash in it into a dustbin at a car park beside Tanjong Katong Complex on Dec 9.

Mr Mah did as he was told and Khoo was arrested at around 11pm that day as he was about to retrieve the envelope.

Aiyo....put money in a dustbin is the most stupid request!! Watch too much TV shows.

KNN....there are so many ways to do such transfer.

Wait a minute....does this case imply that the AD really damage the cars? If not why worry about blackmailing and paying the ransom? Hmmm.

I mean if you receive a SMS saying your car is damaged after sending to AD, would you believe it?

These idiots never learn.

Never ever ask for MONEY.

Get the manager to buy $100,000 worth of CreditSuisse 10gram gold bar, two IPad2, Two iPhone, One Rolex Watch, One carton of Viagra, NTUC/BeeChengXiang/ColdStorage Vouchers.

This way its a gift not outright blackmail!

Also he should book a Hotel in China, and get the manager to send the goods by DHL/UPS to the China Hotel.

Cross country delivery, local police no Juridiction to trace!

Money in dustbin....the risk is always an envelop full of dead man money....and few policemen standby nearby!

Foreign bank account is always the best....if possible Western Union to some Philipines account. Provided he knows a trusted philipino gals.

Give one lexus car....also can....but there must be a good reason to give.

Police will ask for the reasons....cannot say manager and I are gay partners and gifts right?

Need something of low traceability and with good reasons.

The main question is WHY would the manager want to pay the money if the allegation are not true?
