New Volkswagen Polo Coming To Town
Posted by wilswong 10 May 2012

The entry point to Volkswagen’s wide range of cars is about to become even more attractive, with the upcoming launch of the new Polo 1.2 TSI.

At the same time, it is nearly nine percent more economical overall, with an extremely low combined fuel consumption figure of 5.3 litres/100km (18.9 km/L). Carbon dioxide emissions have correspondingly been reduced from 135 to 124 g/km.

The Polo 1.2 TSI’s 1,197 cc turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces its maximum torque of 160 Nm all the way from 1,500-3,500 rpm, so effortless acceleration is available in all driving conditions. Further maximising driving dynamics is the latest version of Volkswagen’s highly acclaimed 7-speed DSG gearbox.

The introduction of this new entry-level Polo – the best-selling compact hatchback in Germany – marks another significant milestone in Volkswagen’s successful engine downsizing strategy. In Singapore, every Volkswagen model with a 3.0-litre or smaller engine now features the combined benefits of a TSI engine and DSG gearbox.

Taking care of safety are twin airbags, all-round disc brakes with ABS and Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP). The comprehensively equipped cabin includes high-end features such as illuminated vanity mirrors, pull-out drawers under the front seats and a chilled glove compartment.

The Polo 1.2 TSI will be launched on the weekend of 12-13 May 2012, with prices starting from $96,800 with COE (off-peak car). Customer can visit both Volkswagen Centre Singapore (Alexandra) and Volkswagen Centre Singapore (MacPherson) to experience the car and enjoy the special launch activities.

At the current COE price, 17k off for a OPC is no longer attractive.

Ridiculous pricing!!

Was browsing through some exotic dealer ads in the states and you could probably get a 2007 CLS 63 AMG for the same price.

True, that's why nowadays you seldom find OPC car plate on brand new cars. Now either you buy normal plate or dont buy at all. biggrin.gif
