I kana accident a few months ago. Decide not to claim insurance and fork out $$$ to repair. 1st WS I went is totally crap... Spend $3K+, change front lower suspension arm, front bumper and side fender and tie rod + respray. The rest of the arms go straighten etc. However, the car feels totally horrible. Wanders around when braking and accelerating (pull right on braking and left on accelerating).
Mechanic tell me its like that one.... Cannot be repaired... WTF.....Feel like setting the car on fire or bang it into bits. Then saw on the ads a WS called Sin Hwee Motor that does chassis alignment one. Decide to go there to try out. After 2 weeks, the car is out of "hospital". Lots of stuff were changed out, cross members, suspension arms etc.....Chassis alignment etc.... All these stuffs not even $3K.... Then decide to change to BC BR coilovers and rims + tyres.......Total dmg $5.1K The car now feels totally different. Its even better than when I bought the car. Steering is very sensitive and responsive. Thumbs up for good service and restoring my car back. Now I also realise that if your car kana accident, you should bring it to a good WS to fully repair and restore the car. It can be done. You need the right equipment (they have the swedish equipment called Car-O-liner) and right people. |

The suspension arms were bent, they only try to straighten it. But did a terrible job. Hence 2nd WS has to replace those parts. Scrap the car? Nope, my car has yet to break even, if I scrap, I will need to pay back bank around 10K. Hence, I am stuck in a situation where I cannot sell, cannot scrap and cannot drive.... In the end, no choice but choose to repair and keep it (not worth changing car due to high COE now). |

That's quite a lot of money.
But the choise is yours. For me I will claim insurance. Good workshop would have invested in expensive chassis alignment equipment. Car-O liner is quite common in accident repair workshop |

Very sad whenever i heard people forking own $ to repair car when accident because of NCD and worried about next year premium. What's the point of buying car insurance then? If Everyone does that, ask LTA to allow 3rd party insurance for all cars, save $. No wonder insurance companies like Singapore.

Normal BB cars also can go good wksp. Doesn't mean drive FFri or Porshuay then can go good wksp. The problem is that I don't have that kind of budget. If not for the BC coilovers and new rims/tyres my repair will be just $2.85K..... Even cheaper than 1st WS. Now with much better handing and tyres, I am eager to go to old Upp Thomson and 99 bends.....lol.....But self-confidence took a hard knock after the accident liao so now a little humji. |

Didn't claim does not necessarily mean premium won't be hiked next year 'cos you have already reported it to the insurer and there's possible claim from other parties.

Since you got into accident, first thing you should not bother whether the repaired good or not, cause you will be selling off the car soon.
Actually whether the workshop worksmanship and service good or not, usually we would not know. Unless the workshop is recommended by someone we know. This post has been edited by 13177: Aug 3 2012, 08:14 AM -------------------- Life is very fragile. Nobody knows what gonna happen next. |
