New Delhi: A valet at a five-star hotel in the Indian capital caused Rs. 2 crore worth of damage to a Lamborghini Gallardo after crashing it into a concrete wall in front of horrified guests, a report said on Thursday.
A photograph of the aftermath at Le Meridien hotel, published in the Times of India newspaper, showed the severely crumpled front end of the sleek white supercar with its hood forced up.
"The car had been parked by valets a number of times before," distressed driver Nipun Miglani told the newspaper, saying he had borrowed the Italian-made speedster from a friend and driven to the hotel last Thursday.
He has filed a police case against Le Meridien, which has refused to accept responsibility, as well as the valet, named as Arun Kumar. He claims the repairs have been estimated at Rs. 2 crore
CCTV footage apparently showed the valet bring the car from the parking area to the porch of the multi-storey hotel, which hosts several glitzy restaurants and a bar, and then briefly get out.
After climbing back behind the wheel, he then lurches forward inexplicably, sending a colleague diving for cover before piling head-on into the wall, injuring himself in the process.
The rear-wheel-drive Gallardo, named after a type of fighting bull, is capable of a top speed of around 200 miles an hour (321 kilometres an hour) and has an engine packing more than 550 brake horsepower.
It sells in Europe for around approximately Rs. 1.50 crore but import duties on supercars normally double their price in India.
The valet was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries but was discharged the same day, the Times of India said.

As with all things there, this matter has to be discussed further. Then after that talk some more. So on and so forth.

Bad thing about valeting ur car, i wont valet unless necessary

After I have seen how these valet drivers treat the customers' car and add 'decorations' to the body I wont use them. When you are with guests to collect the car after dinner, usually you wont walk around the car to check for scratches etc before driving off. These scratches just wait for your discovery the next morning [:(]

The problem is when valet and the building management disclaim their responsibilities upfront.

Who dares to let them valet?

Car cheap cheap in India ok lah [sly]

Ho ho, not this sort of car. Lambos and Ferraris cost even more than in SG after conversion.

Lives are cheap there, (exotic) cars are not. :D

well, last week i gave my car for valet at one of the large hotels, and left it there for about 10 hours. when the valet handed me back the car keys, (it was a short distance) somehow he managed to get the coolant temp to >80 degrees and the other gauges were already at 40+, PLUS the idiot handed me back the car in manual mode ... so when i went home to check my blackvue ... jackass floored it out of the basement carpark on 1st gear only ><
