Australian man creates professional ad to sell his 1999 Holden Barina
AsiaOne | Wednesday, Jul 16, 2014
If you were a digital director of an advertising agency and had a old lack-lustre car to get rid of, what would you do?
David Johns from advertising firm Chimney Australia decided to create the slickest used-car ad ever to see if anyone would respond to his call for offers.
The car in question? A good old 1999 Holden Barina which usually costs around Aus$3,000 second-hand.
In the professionally made commercial, Johns can be seen revving the engine of the car and driving it across a bridge, in a tunnel and on the streets.
So while the car looks like it belongs to a small family in the suburbs, the clever ad makes it look like it belongs in a scene of The Fast and the Furious.
Here is what the ad says about the car:
  • "One careful owner
  • 10 months rego
  • Always garaged
  • Matching seats
  • Very reliable
  • Performance redefined
  • Style redefined
  • Luxury redefined
  • It could be yours. Tweet me an offer #buymyBarina".

This should be the champion of all ads

Haha to be honest, I quite like all the problems he listed except the one about driving the same car as your boss. I like to let my girlfriend know that if she wants to be a bitch, I'm free to bring other girls out. If there is no space, you save fuel because you don't have to give people you don't like rides. The purpose of driving such a car is to show that you've made it and you have to deal with gold diggers.

There are quite a number of people who spend tons of cash on their car upgrading this or upgrading that. The sad truth is that they're broke. I just bought some used performance parts of a guy and he asked if I wanted anything else because he's in need of cash. Are you kidding me? You spent so much cash modifying your car that you have nothing left?

It definitely is a creative ad.
