Hmmmm...

quota up by 18% means price down by 18% so $54,100 or so?

Don't read too much into it...

Increase in nos. doesn't translate to reduce in price...

let's wait and see :)

Anyone has the exact figures for each category? The article says 23% more COE but din specify how much for each category

not yet have figures. News from CNA.

SINGAPORE: A total of 14,114 Certificates of Entitlement (COE) will be available for the three-month period from February to April 2015, announced the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Wedneday (Jan 14) in a press release.

Bidding under this quota will start with the first COE bidding exercise in February 2015, said the LTA.

This marks an increase from the 11,932 COEs available during the November 2014 to January 2015 period. This rise also comes even after the LTA said in October that the vehicle growth rate from February 2015 to January 2018 will be lowered from 0.5 per cent to 0.25 per cent. The contribution rate to Category E - the Open Category - will also be reduced to 10 per cent from 15 per cent from February.

The increase in COE quota is likely due to the increase in deregistrations compared to previous quarters. From October to December 2014, a total of 15,885 vehicles were deregistered, compared to 13,535 from July to September 2014, a 17.4 per cent rise.

The increase in vehicle population is set at 591 for February to April 2015, compared to 1,185 for November 2014 to January 2015.

The next quota announcement for the bidding period of May to July 2015 will be made in April 2015, said the LTA.

too much anticipation and expectation for this and as such, the increase supply is likely to be absorb by the increase demand. Will drop more only if the increase is substantially more than expected.

THERE will be 18.3 per cent more certificates of entitlement (COEs) from February, even as the annual vehicle growth rate will be cut by half to 0.25 per cent.

The quota for February to April 2015 will contain 14,114 COEs, or almost a fifth more than the previous November 2014 to January 2015 quota.

Category A - for cars below 1,600cc and 130hp - gains the most in the next quarter, with 1,973 COEs available per month, or an additional 41.3 per cent.

Cat B - for cars above 1,600cc or 130 hp - will have 1,444 COEs monthly, or an extra 26.9 per cent.

Cat C - for goods vehicles and buses - gets a reprieve with an additional 30.9 per cent in COEs or 369 pieces monthly. The number of Cat C COEs had contracted sharply in the previous quarter because of the success of the Early Turnover Scheme or ETS, which allows for commercial vehicles to be registered directly without bidding for a COE.

But Cat D - for motorcycles - will decrease by 10.1 per cent to 570 COEs monthly, while the biggest loser in the new quota is

Cat E - the open category - which shrinks 33.8 per cent to 349 COEs monthly.

I think the chances are as high as sacking LTY and re-instating RL as transport minister.

The increase is too minimal to affect coe prices. Those hoping to buy can kiss goodbye to the wind

There are a lot of used cars in the dealers' lots right now, and a lot of cars (like mine) just scrapped but not yet added back to the quota.

Premium should be heading head down, and hopefully the dealers would be less greedy and not asked for 15K depreciation for 7-8 year-old cars.

It is still a good news. Remember upfront 50% down payment and 5 years bank loan.

Cat B increase is even out by open Cat decrease. Lppl.

even though Cat E is down, Cat B has saved it. nett increase is 64 more quota (combined Cat B & E) or 7.7% more, per bidding exercise.

still increase, but of course can't compare to the 41% more for Cat A.
