From the title, I thought you were "high-class", wanted to go to a workshop that was air-conditioned... [:)]

Sorry... but all the shops I know are closed on Sundays. [shakehead]

.....now you change the title....people would think I'm nuts [laugh] .

Anyway, good luck with your search. [thumbsup]

Cool,

My air-con knob (thermostat?) has 4 notches, when i turned the knob the the 1st 2 notches, the compressor sounds like its being turned 'on' but air is not blown out from the vents at all. however, when I switch it higher and the max, air is blasting out from the vents. The air is cool but, in all ocassions, the fan could not be engaged even though the 'engaged' sound is there when i turn the knob and the tacho shows the meter moving up and down when ever i turn on n turn off the air con.

cheers.

Mike if you are anywhere near AMK Industrial Park 2 ...... have a drive down cause I know there are some workshops open on Sunday. Can't remember the exact name but I have seen a few ........

Now that Mrboobs has mentioned it, I remember a shop at AMK Autopoint that was open the last time I met some MCF members there on a Sunday (a fortnight ago).

It's probably on the 3rd floor or higher.

Another thing.....I had some problem like that yesterday (at the Dam... [:/] ).

I turned my airconditioner off.....and it turned itself on...

I think my car's electronics were screwed up by my failing alternator.

Your problem sounds like it's a loose or faulty connection somewhere along the line.

Your equipment seems to be functioning, but not the knobs.

You may want to bring it to a Car electronics specialist

Sorry for not being able to be of help earlier..... [shakehead]

Mind asleep [sleeping] ...needed some jarring to help me wake up [shocked][:p]

Personally, I think your car's electronics should have nothing to do with the altenator. The altenator ensures the battery gets enough charging.

As for the case of the air-conditioner turning itself on at the DAM ... think about it. The place is basically deserted most of the time, does - HAUNTINGS ring a bell ??

Could be a case for "World's Scariest Ghost Stories" ..... sent a story file to www.sfogs.com - Singapore's First Online Ghost Stories .......

hey...people want to sleep....you tell ghost stories.. [crazy][laugh]

Anyway....my car has odd problems.

And that was the first time I tried driving with the air conditioner off....wanted to do some sprinting along the dam. Ended up with even more problems.... [shakehead]

cheers....and good night [sleeping]

"fan could not be engaged"

Hi! there, Michel,

This sounds like your fan switch is not working, could be a wiring problem as the blower is not receiving current from the switch. Not sure who's open on Sundays as I use my own electrician at Autopoint.

Guys,

Thanks for all your advises. I've got my problems solved. I've got a defective thermostat and a blown 'air-con' fan relay.

I went to a AA-approved mechanic at Yew Tee Industrial Estate off Woodlands Road, 19Km. The workshop's called Kim Chuan Seng Motor Work and it opens from 9am-6pm on sundays. There's also an accessories' shop and 2 tyre shops which is opened too. (FYI)

Cheers.

I'm glad you're problems are solved.

I too had engine problems just this afternoon.

Was wondering if I needed to get it towed to a workshop... [shakehead]

Eventually troubleshoot the problem and it's been solved. [;)]

You must be staying in the NorthWest.

People like me staying in Sengkang may have a hard time finding the location you mentioned [:p]

"have a hard time finding the location"

Hi! there, Presea,

It'd be easier for you to locate good w/shops, as soon as you drop your speed down from 160 to 16. [sly][:p]

What other problems have you encountered? Next time I won't lend you my torch, then there might be less problems. [laugh][laugh]

Hi Paul.

Yeah...your torch can speed up engine failure one.... [laugh]

The problem is the lack of automobile repairs shops in Sengkang. If there was one, then should my car break down, I don't need a tow truck....I can push my car there [thumbsup][laugh]

New problems.... erratic rpm (when I press on the accelerator, even when changing gears, the rpm falls to 500, and takes 2 seconds before revving strongly and cleanly again, but with lots of black smoke!) I had to adjust the air flow sensor and engine idle speed (in the rain yesterday).....while trying to figure out if it was the loose connector between the airflow sensor and the ECU. And during my tinkering, the engine also overheated....and I realised that my STUPID mechanic did not bother to top up my radiator with coolant when he changed the joint and connections and the coolant leaked out then.

Now my engine is fine (although rpm a little high during idle...which I will solve today!) but I need to replace my radiator with coolant.....

The whole problem....before I solved the erratic rpm....I was fetching my in-laws for our weekly Sunday lunch appointment, and the car kept jerking every gear change..... they must be thinking... "lau pok chia".... Luckily can send them home after fixing it. They were so worried, they were insisting on taking a taxi. [shakehead]

Just one of those Sunday Blues [laugh]

cheers
