Hi guys,

There are some prospective Polo buyers in MCF who have preference for the manual version. Currently Cars & Cars does not bring in the manual version. For those who have enquired the SEs from Cars & Cars, I am sure that you have been told that there is no plans to bring in the manual Polo at the moment.

With this poll, we aim to derive a good estimate on the demand for manual Polos. Hopefully if the number is sizeable, VW Asia Pacific will be prompted to bring the manual Polos in.

I believe the potential Polo owners wld b:

Majority: Late 20s execs or Angmohs who were educated overseas n understand the iconic value of the VW and Polo brand name.

Minority: Pple who just want something different when more economical options like Jazz or Vios are around.

So, i think not much demand for manual...

Hmm.. i believe everyone understands the iconic value of vw.. [rolleyes]

And i do think that execs would love a lively ride once in a while... [pirate]

So vw should at least bring in the manual to satisfy whatever minority that is [sweatdrop]

pple who drive vw is already the minority , right? w/ so much asian makes around..

anyway polo w/ manual would make a perfect second car for the weekend for many [thumbsup]

What you said is true. Volkswagen (Everyone's car) is meant for the mass. But the markup and pricing in Asia (except China) has kept us away from buying VW. Wonder if Cars and Cars can try selling Polo or Golf 1.6 at Japanese car price, for sure people like me will by Golf immediately.

wat u r talking abt is using economies of scale to bring prices down, something which VW SG doesnt have. China is different coz their market is big, alot of pple earnin big bucks there. Thats why bizmen love China so much... anything they order in is in large amounts...

SG market is too small coz toyota has already monopolized our market...

well, they dun have a vw factory in thailand yet [laugh][laugh]

if it does, expect vw taxis to be as common as toyota crown taxis here .. [sweatdrop]

i think for economies of scale here doesnt really imply here... [rolleyes]

As vw expensive in europe, africa(except south africa) , americas(except mexico), asia(except china). [hur]

so only for countries of manufacture seems a bit cheaper .. while the rest of the world have to fock out more from their wallets.. [thumbsdown]

Neutral Newbie

M,

If we were to wait for CnC to do that......WLL / TKK The only way that will happen would be if someone parallel imports the car in..........

The reply I got on my visit the other day at CnC in response to my query whether there'll be any possibility manual Polo's would be brought in was that "Well, you know the market here - how people prefer auto's....nobody drive manuals these days...bla-bla...."

I guess I'm nobody then. [:|]

Wot ? And really kill the already pathetic Golf sales ? [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

Nice suggestion (and one I'd like to really see) but I've a feeling it'll be easier to have them price the Golf to be a more credible choice to the Astra... [:p]

I posed the same question to the sales person.

She replied with a shrug that unlikely they'll bring in the manual Polos....

Wonder how many of us have been asking them the same question?

If by the time they decide to bring it in, maybe, that particular pool of buyers gone already lah....

Then maybe they'll say, see....no buyers what.... [crazy]

i think no matter wat the polls here say, SG is still an auto market. so realistically, manual cant really sell. er i mean, how many gals are those who say they want manual? but no matter, think vw should at least allow special indent for manual.
