Bluefreud Clutched January 26, 2006 Share January 26, 2006 hi, need advice and suggestions. recently just changed to a new radiator cap becos the old one's "rubber sealing" (not sure i use the right term) was gone. however apparently now the new one's rubber sealing is so gd tat it became stuck!! as in i cant open my radiator cap. sigh.. so how? now i cant check wat is the coolant water level and top up as needed. thanks alot. ↡ Advertisement Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Pisces69 6th Gear January 26, 2006 Share January 26, 2006 U dont need to open the rad cap so often. Just check the overflow tank for the correct fluid level. Only if u suspect the level inside the rad to b wrong, then u can confirm by checking tru the rad cap WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. U may do this once every few months. Since the cap is new, it might just be tight. Slowly turn to fully open & wiggle it up to remove. If u try this on a HOT engine, the hot coolant will spray out & burn u like freddy kruger. Apollo 1st Gear January 27, 2006 Share January 27, 2006 probably the rubber is thicker and therefore better grip. after you removed it, apply a layer of grease to the steel rim over which the cap seals, it will act like KY and lubricate the surface.
