Grab a Vagtool...

1. Get into the Instruments module (module 17).

2. Click the Recode button. (07)

3. Write down the code number in the box so that you will remember it.

4. Don't mess with the Workshop Code box though.

5. Change the third digit in the code number to 5.

6. Our original should be 1.

7. You will get km/l display immediately

Tested on Skoda Octavia Elegance [;)]

Try at your own risk [sweatdrop]

The following below describes the various numbers

section 17 (instruments)

The third number is country version, where..

1= EU (24h clock, km & l/km)

2= USA (12h clock, miles & miles/ US gallon)

3= Canada (not sure on difference)

4=UK (24h, miles/uk gallon)

5= Japan

6= Saudi Arabia

7= Australia

Can't the agent change that for you? [:/]

So it's from the European setting to the Japz setting.

I think should be able to do the job as well... but don't quote me [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Try to ask the guys at C&C if they can help you out on changing it... the GV-GTi is in l/km?

cannot meh .... who did you talk to ? I haven't tried but was told that you can get them to do it during servicing. Mine not due yet so didn't actually ask.

But was told by bros here that they will do it.

Actually, any of the VAG workshop mentioned here can do it.
