I guess he would be unconscious or dead before the car started burning. The impact was directly at the driver's side.

 

But how come the news report along PIE? Its the same accident? Don't see any other vehicles involved.

Stomp | Tuesday, Jan 5, 2016 Update: A 63-year-old driver of a white Mercedes involved in the crash has died. According to Lianhe Wanbao, the Mercedes went out-of-control and the lorry driver collided with an oncoming trailer underneath the expressway flyover. The Mercedes then crashed into the back of the lorry before its engine compartment caught fire. Stomp reader Faizal spotted an accident along the PIE near Jurong Town Hall exit towards Changi Airport this morning (Jan 5) at around 6.20am. He recorded the aftermath of the accident on his motorcycle camera. Upon queries from Stomp, SCDF has released the following statement: "We were alerted around 5.45am. "We dispatched two fire engines, three ambulances and one support vehicle. "One of the vehicles had caught fire and was extinguished by a member of public by using a fire extinguisher before SCDF's arrival. "Male chinese in his 50s was trapped and extracted by SCDF using hydraulic rescue tools and he was pronounced dead at the scene by SCDF paramedics. "One person was conveyed to Ng Teng Fong general hospital." The police further added: "The police received a call on 5 January 2015 at about 7.33 am informing us of an accident along PIE towards Changi Airport near Jurong Town Hall exit. "Upon arrival, it was established that an accident involving 1 bus, 2 lorries, and 3 cars had occured at the said location. "Two people were conveyed concious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. "Police investigations are ongoing."

According to Chinese daily Shin Min Daily News, the white Mercedes was travelling behind the lorry along Jurong Town Hall Road when the driver suddenly lost control of his vehicle.

In an attempt to avoid the out-of-control Mercedes, the lorry driver collided with an oncoming trailer underneath the expressway flyover.

The Mercedes then crashed into the back of the lorry before its engine compartment caught fire.
