Manual transmission use wat fluid?Can use ATF?

Err u sure manual gearbox use engine oil,thought transmission oil supposed to be thicker W60-75 instead of Engine oil W30-50?

ya right... last time i drive until dry. all leak out. the feller take out nut and show me.

 

gasket leaked. no oil also no problem... sweatdrop.gif FC a bit higher only.

Yes, most car need delicated MTF (GL-4 or GL-5) for their manual gear box but some GM car actually recommend ATF fluid for their manual gearbox.

There's only one type of ATF that so strong that it actually meets GL-4 manual gearbox spec, RL D4 ATF & RL HT ATF.

I know Honda cars can use normal engine oil as gearbox oil. The required viscosity is very thin. Use to use Mobil 1 for my Honda

 

Correct last time driving EK Series civic. Backside itchy, go and change the transmission oil. Workshop use gear oil. Suddenly the changing of gear became very rough. Drive back to workshop, drain out the oil and top up with brake oil. Yes brake oil, think the vis grade is just nice for the transmission.
