Enotsol Neutral Newbie February 22, 2007 Share February 22, 2007 Automatic Transmission Fluid(ATF) is meant for auto cars. For manual transmission cars, stick to your engine oil.

Elfenstar 3rd Gear February 23, 2007 Share February 23, 2007 Can I use ATF on my manual car?Wat oil should I use?Driving Lancer It actually feels better using ATF, but you'll kill the syncros. Theres MTF for manual cars.
Trex101 3rd Gear February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 Yes, most car need delicated MTF (GL-4 or GL-5) for their manual gear box but some GM car actually recommend ATF fluid for their manual gearbox. There's only one type of ATF that so strong that it actually meets GL-4 manual gearbox spec, RL D4 ATF & RL HT ATF.
Nothingtodo 1st Gear February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 Hv nvr change my Manual Gearbox oil before (5yrs liao). No need to change if not necessary. Use MTF instead of ATF. they don't separate the 2 types for no reason.

Lengendcf 1st Gear February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 I know Honda cars can use normal engine oil as gearbox oil. The required viscosity is very thin. Use to use Mobil 1 for my Honda Correct last time driving EK Series civic. Backside itchy, go and change the transmission oil. Workshop use gear oil. Suddenly the changing of gear became very rough. Drive back to workshop, drain out the oil and top up with brake oil. Yes brake oil, think the vis grade is just nice for the transmission. ↡ Advertisement
