Green_carnation Clutched April 25, 2007 Share April 25, 2007 My dad's G9 corolla has got a very strong foul smell in the cabin. It is not as of those dead animals foul smell, but probably some kinda of smell from dried up moist carpet.. but there's no leaking. Now the question.. how to get rid of the smell? As in is there some steam cleaning of carpets, or any other ways? If yes, any recommendation which places does dat, and what's the cost like? Thanks in advance for any advice.. ↡ Advertisement

Arowana1 1st Gear April 26, 2007 Share April 26, 2007 what i normally do: 1. vacuum car and wipe down leather seats, etc 2. park car under hot sun for a few hours, leave air con vent open and windows too (slightly). 3. go homefix/ntuc and get a foul smell spray that u can spray directly to carpets 4. go spc/mobil and buy air con foul smell removal can. around 9 bucks. this one will clean ur air con vents. 5. get ioniser to 1 to 5 and smell should disappear... unless u got a dead rat somewhere

Boyboy 1st Gear April 27, 2007 Share April 27, 2007 use those spray on carpet cleaner u can buy at any supermarket. follow instructions.. then sun it for a few hours under good strong sunlight! be careful not to kena rain or birdshit.. then back to square one.. also can spray liberally with febreze n sun it again. but only if u dun mind febreeze smell. can also try to put some ionizer in ur car. my dad's car has built in ionizer. i must say it works cos wadever air freshner i put inside cannot be smelt . all fabrics will trap smell, so if ur seats are fabric, use some fabric cleaner on them too.. Patcheon Neutral Newbie April 27, 2007 Share April 27, 2007 (edited) Maybe you can try using activated carbon. You can get those from aquarium shops and if remembered correctly, cost about a dollar for a small packet. Can check out activated carbon in the link below: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activated_carbon Edited April 27, 2007 by Patcheon ↡ Advertisement
