Nhyone 4th Gear August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 (edited) http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/01/rumoure...6-more-details/ Within days of announcing Toyota's formation of a "Committee to create interesting cars," this summer's Best Car Plus magazine reveals that the long-rumoured new AE86 type car has indeed been spawned by the group and should be in showrooms in the winter of 2008. Macross1 Neutral Newbie August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 Swee! Now for gullwing doors! That would complete the look. Sorry, I'm a sucker for gullwing doors.
Macrosszero Turbocharged August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 I too wish that they had retained some design cues of the original AE86, like how Nissan retained design cues from preceding Z-cars in their 350Z. Of course, you can't be lazy like Porsche and make every new Porsche look the same like the previous one.
Verve 1st Gear August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 can t spot a single similarity at all unless you are referring to the toyota badge
Demonite Neutral Newbie August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 Power will come from a 1.5L 2NZ-FE good for 120 horsepower 2nz-fe is a 1.3l toyota engine found in an ist and other 1.3l toyota hatch. its bhp is 86. 1.5l should be the 1nz-fe but even that is 109 bhp. unless of course they did something to the engine to increase the bhp lol. Elfenstar 3rd Gear August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 Actually the hey-day of sports coupes might be coming back... its also rumored that a new silvia and a new rx7 are in the works too, although nissan and mazda are v. tight-lipped abt it. The question is will they be as over-engineered as their predecessors?
Freemen 2nd Gear August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 Must check inside, see if they still have the cup holder to place a cup of water.. Peace bro
Nismobabe Neutral Newbie August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 the new ae86 has its certain beauty! I find it simply sleeky cool but the front grille design can be improved further though.
Macrosszero Turbocharged August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 Rear profile of the FD Civic is similar to the ES Civic. Can't see the concept AE86 successor resembling anything in the line Trueno/Levin models let alone the AE86 specifically.
Otsego Clutched August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 Look a bit like the Nissan 350Z right?? the bonnet and the front grill.....
Vesfreq Neutral Newbie August 2, 2007 Share August 2, 2007 It seems to be. Not too long ago there were rumors of a cheap toyota coupe. This appears to be the coupe in the earlier rumors. If only the car can crank out more power. Hope the new valvematic technology can bring the best out of the car. ↡ Advertisement
