Why use seafoam when plain water will do? Did a water de-carbonizing again recently and found that my slight pinging(during hard accelerating) is gone. Water is free....

I have taught my mech how to do it safely. He can help you de-carbon if you like.

Yes, tap water. I don't know how it de-carbonize but it will worked if you have some issue like slight pinging or knocking.

I'm speculating the water can steam clean the piston crown area right down the whole exhaust system, O2 sensor included thus the improvement in engine idling and running.

Sorry for digging up this very old thread cause I remember seeing this before. Yes water de carbonization does work and many lao jiao mechanics do it.

Here's a simple vid.

Use distilled water if availble but our tap water apparantly can too.
