Among models affected: Vits (Yaris) some Vios, Belta, Corolla, Crown, BB (Daihatsu Materia). Check with your agent or PIs for the recall parts.

That recall announcement is for JDM version (unofficially exported as PI cars). However as many modes shares the same outsorced cheap components, it may affect a lot more models which is comes under export names. This exported versions may have it is own recall carry out by the AD of each country (often un-announced). If the AD decided not to do recall then nothing the customers can do accept be educated themselves!

Recall is not about a question of honesty. It is to prevent a major class action suit that may bring down the company financially. This is important for those fund managers who manages billion of $$ of assets.

Sorry for the confusion. The details of the recall yesterday was scant. Smaller JDM models that affected like Vits may shares the same outsourced components worldwide to bring down the cost. Therefore when the JDM recall it may be a good precaution for all other related models especilly for those with insider news.

If you happens to know some of Toyota components suppliers, then this sentence is not a surprise. In pursuit to lower components cost, some components manufactures resort of using sub-quality materials therefore the quality suffers too. It may looks good outside but who knows inside

This also shows that Toyota always got QC problem with their parts, it is not that they are honest but they have do such recalls or they will be sued just like the fate with Mitsubishi previously.

Toyota's effort to cut cost is disillusioned I suppose. They do not seem to pass down the cost savings to customers.
