singapore river is dammed up and the fire boat cannot sail thru, the ship lift at the dam is a small one dont think can lift a fire boat over...

Oh I see........look like they never think of fire when design it.

So let the boat burn to ashes if the boat not near any shore/bridge?

Singapore car catches fire after driver hides cigarette cartons in engine compartment

JOHOR BARU: A Singapore-registered Honda Stream caught fire at the exit lane of the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex at the Sultan Iskandar Building on Tuesday night.

Johor Baru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh said this was the first time a car had caught fire at the CIQ while undergoing immigration checks.

The driver, a 24-year-old Singaporean man, was unhurt in the incident.

"The fire, which started from the engine, was put out in three minutes. The entire car and its engine were damaged. Initial investigations revealed no criminal elements," he said.

However, Sulaiman said officers found 15 cartons of cigarettes in the car’s engine compartment. They believe that it could have been an attempt to smuggle contraband cigarettes into the republic.

“The car did not manage to go through Customs checks yet,” he said.

The man was not arrested. It is understood that an offence had yet to be committed as the items had not yet crossed the border.

The Johor Customs Department said the case is now with the police.

Photographs of the incident were uploaded on a Facebook page, which went viral with the caption "Singapore-registered car caught fire at CIQ due to cigarettes".

Commenters on Facebook vented their anger at the driver for his foolishness at storing the cigarettes in the car’s engine compartment.

But joke aside, recently my radiator fan connector burn up.  Have to cut and join - ownself do.

I think recently, rain and sun, the humidity is saturated and even condensing.  Water vapour cause connector Resistance to rise which in turn cause heating at fan connector. Or old car is like that.

Do find time to check if the connector is excessively hot after driving. Or the fan sound ....... sound OK.

I suspect it could be an electrical short circuit due to installation of devices or modifications. The new wiring may not be protected by the correct fuse rating.

Original wiring harness don't have such issue and are protected by fuses rated in the factory. Just my guess.

Twincharged

Nissan Latio suddenly burst into flames by itself at AMK Ave 4 Block 609 carpark yesterday afternoon. Residents say they noticed smoke coming out from the front of the car. Why a parked car would catch fire suddenly? Short circuit? Weather too hot?

Might be the dvr. Especially those that run overnight and have constant power supplied to them. Some use battery packs to extend the amount of time they can run without driving and that can be the fire hazard especially if parked in open carpark.

If they use another battery pack, it would most likely be the lithium-ion battery problem...aka Note 7 case.
