Dorbenji Neutral Newbie October 2, 2008 Share October 2, 2008 Hi I am a newbie, could I check how you add the fuel cleaner? Directly into the place when the petrol are? What brand you recommend? ↡ Advertisement
Octopus 3rd Gear October 2, 2008 Share October 2, 2008 Yes, pour it into your petrol tank just before you fill-up your petrol tank. This way it should mix well inside.
Fresh Clutched October 2, 2008 Share October 2, 2008 So if I use caltex, do I still need this cleaner stuff? 2 years already, thinking abt using sonax. thx. Caltex contains Technron. Vpower has some kind of cleaning detergent as well. However, the amount of cleaners are very small amount. A greater concentration would be if you pour in Techron Concentrate which is not available here. Techron contains PEA invented by Chevron. http://www.chevron.com/products/ourfuels/p...itives/tcp.aspx Amsoil PI and Redline SI-1 also contains PEA. I would suggest you try them instead. I have good experience with Redline. After using it, I was able to see soft carbon on the spark plug instead of hard carbon. This proves to have some effect on softening and cleaning up the carbon. You don't need octane booster. Just pump the regular octane that your manual tells you. High octane is only needed when your car engine requires it. It doesn't give you extra energy. Kb27 Supersonic October 2, 2008 Share October 2, 2008 I guess it's up to you. I use Redline regularly with almost every tankful in small maintenance dosage Bcoz it not only cleans, it is also a upper cyl lub. So the engine runs smoother.

Jamjammer Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 (edited) Fellow bros, Saw this at Esso in Clementi West selling this additives called EP-1. Each bottle cost only $2 plus and each bottle can treat 60L of petrol. Thought it's cheap man! Anyone here try this? Am thinking if this really works and each bottle only cost $2 plus, I can now downgrade to RON 92 and use this, hahahaha.... Albeniz Turbocharged October 6, 2008 Share October 6, 2008 When I pumped Esso 2000, my FC was about 10.5km/L-11.2km/L (before Redex). 1st tank of Esso 2000 after addition of Redex = 10.8km/L. 2nd tank of Esso 2000 after Redex = 11.8km/L.

Kb27 Supersonic October 7, 2008 Share October 7, 2008 If you add anything to the fuel tank, there is always the risk of damage to the whole system...the fuel pump, fuel filter and also the cat. If you are risk averse, then don't do it. Otherwise, you research and check out every product before you put it in. By the way, all the oil companies should have added some cleaner additives to the fuel, like Techron and Vpower...That is a danger in itself, but you would think the chemists there knows what they are doing. If something is damaged, the oil company can be sued. But if you add any unknown small company stuff, then maybe the chance of recourse, due to proven damage is much less. Jamjammer Neutral Newbie October 7, 2008 Share October 7, 2008 Actually I dont mind trying since it's just $2 plus per bottle but I have to specially make a trip there to buy it. If other ESSO station have it, I'll grab a few bottles. In the meantime, you have to be patient as I pump full tank every 2 weeks. So you need to wait at least one month to have a proper observation, hahaha....

Albeniz Turbocharged October 7, 2008 Share October 7, 2008 Thanks for the info. U need to add the Redex at every tank top-up? No...! You put Redex into the tank for only ONCE. Over-dosage is detrimental to the engine. Be careful.
Redplanet Clutched October 7, 2008 Share October 7, 2008 Ok...I've not bought it yet.....so not aware of the user information...Seems to work for your ride huh? What is its effective timeframe though?
