RACE DAY !!! Hours and hours of training and we have arrived finally !!!

Clouds formed overhead during mid to late noon, but luckily the heavens spared us this time round for a perfect setting for the night race~

Some interesting postings from other volunteers:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

"as you know the route below Marina bridges is unpassable to motorbike due to generator set and lighting placed there ... btw Kimi did not walk his way to the pit ... he was transferred to my bike at point 5.6 all the way to the pit ... since the route is very narrow ... i felt his thigh squeezing my thigh ... hmmm [laugh]"

------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Kimi's car skidded into our sector 12 towards the last 4 laps. When he got out of the car he went straight to the bus-stop (in front of Victoria Concert Hall) and sat there, watching the race as it continued.

Meanwhile, the spectators were thrilled to see Kimi so near them. Cameras were snapping away and the crowd cheered and clapped when he was escorted away.

As the car did not obstruct the race track & it was few laps away to finishing, we left it there till the race was over.

Our sector's fire marshals & track marshal, together with me...we were all caught on tv when we rushed to his car after the incident Shocked

Immediately after that our fire marshal's wife in England sms him," I saw you on TV" [laugh]"

During the race, as usual the fencing along Carl's Junior side was completely bannered again~ But as expected, the crazy 'no banners will stop us' crowd ripped it apart once the race started !!! I was handling out free ear plugs to kids who really needed it, from my experience over the past few days~

To top it off, after the race, the locals + tourists even brought the torn 5-metres banners back home ?!?! [sweatdrop]

You crazy bunch of people !!!! I love you guys !!

Finally the race is over and Singapore GP (organiser) has kindly organised a appreciation party (free flow of food, drinks n beer) for all volunteers @ the Singapore Flyer [thumbsup]

n that's the last of it all !!! thanks to all who followed this diary of the 1st Singapore GP, showing some of the behind-scenes~

before i cap it off, please do applaud the 900+ volunteers who have toiled their sweat and personal time to make everything happen !!! We are not in for the 'free tickets' and our payment was your smiles n cheers + knowing that we have done Singapore proud and showcase to the world that Singapore is the crown jewel in F1 !!!

I will be back next year and never will I give up this role even for a $7500 Paddock Club ticket !!! [;)]

Cheers,

Another interesting post from other volunteers:

"What you all probably didn't see was on Friday Practice, when boundary rider picked up Kimi, and was driving past point 5 (right side) they went over a bump too fast and Kimi slapped the driver over the shoulder pretty hard and showed him sign to slow down... Hilarious... or not ... it depends,

we found it priceless too."

Can barely contain my excitement thinking of the F1 race this weekend! Fast cars, hot babes and a whole bunch of other events/parties going on! It's gonna be a blast!

Anyway F1's not just about the race & cars itself, cos I heard many big name establishments like Zouk, St James Powerhouse and Butter Factory are giving away lots of cool stuff and freebies such as free drinks and 1-for-1's with the show of an F1 ticket stub! If you're into retail, Millennia Walk has some pretty sweet deals too. Remember, don't throw those ticket stubs away!

Check out the official F1 TVC as well!
