Hi. Did a search and found this old thread.

My verna's ABS light just came on today. Changed my brake pads and skimmed the rear brake disc last Fri. Is there any likely connection?

How did this thing get resolved?

the abs sensor may be faulty or not properly replaced back when rotor was taken out for skimming.

tks... been back to the ws and they used a tablet sensor to check and found fault on 3 wheels... reset it and asked me to monitor... and the light came on one journey, then off... sigh...

just sent back again.

ws just called me, now say use the tablet scan found fault with front wheels instead. asked me to change the sensors, will cost about $400+...

am i being ko'tok'ed?

did this happened only after the skimming??

There may be a possibility that they damaged it but no way now you can justified that.

Best option now is ask from stockist and inquire how much it cost.

yes, only after skimming. car is 7.5 yr now and for the last 2.5 yr i drove, it had never had problem. just after the change of the brake pads and skimming ($440), this ABS light came on intermittently...

hate to say this,

but at $440 you are being carroted. If its a new disc rotor and pad, its still considered hardly acceptable.

Do us a favour, warn us where is this WS.

Likely to be the ABS sensor. My hyundai ABS sensors failed at round 6.5yrs. All four sensors have been changed. Can purchase at Song Yi at about $120+ per piece.

Touch woods, if the ABS sensor spoilt can we disable it and drive without abs assistance?

Any issue that it will cause the car not running properly, or any issue with insurance in case accident?

In old days where got abs, during e-brake will "pumping" the brake pedal when there is wheel lock..

i drove for a couple of weeks without abs and its all normal when you drive sedately.

But on rainy days, wheels may tend to lock up quite easily if driven not so sedately.

Quite scary for new drivers.

Bro. I have the same problem as u.

Just ignore the abs la. u won't die without using the system.

Normal day to day driving no problem at all.

I'm speaking from experience.

But if u paranoid kind, by all means.

Sincerely I rather u change tires regularly at proper intervals than worry over abs

Not really understand. During raining day wheel tend to lock up?

You always do ebraking while driving normally/daily..?

Without ABS on raining days when I travel NS highspeed and braking due to traffic ahead don't seem to have this problem..

That means your braking could be quite hard, or tyres going botak soon

like i say, when driven a bit insanely.

but that again, abs sensor is very sensitive. Once it sense a slight lock up of the wheel, it will be activated.

i change my tyres every year which clock around 40k.

Hardly any chance for them to be hardened... [sunny]

I was billed $175 per piece, 2 pcs $370, plus labour $90 = $440... so that's quite steep...

and to think it was ok all along... i just paid almost the same amt less than a week ago to change brake pads and skim brake rotor, so was suspicious that this was caused by that... but maybe i shouldn't be so skeptical...

but it's really painful...
