Wizzercool 1st Gear February 5, 2009 Share February 5, 2009 I heard from my coleague that there is a fish market in Pontian which sell fresh seafood at very reasonable price. The market opens in the afternoon, 1pm if I heard it correctly. But, KNN, the coleagues are evasive when I asked for direction and always say they either follow the direction from their uncle or just sit a car and dunno the way. Karpi Neutral Newbie February 5, 2009 Share February 5, 2009 1) go buy Tuas Check point (easier to direct) 2) after exiting SG & JB custom, lead to highway. HERE on the high way, be ready to exit @ Gelang Patah 3) follow the route all the way till u reach a T- Junction, TURN LEFT 4) Again, follow the route all the wat till u reach a T-Junction(look-a-like T Junction in fact), TURN RIGHT 5) From this route onwards, its a long long route......just cruise till u passby a temple on your left, then PREPARE to TURN LEFT at the cross junction coming ahead. (this is a long route which takes approx. 20-30mins) - beware snakes/baby crocs/dogs MAY cross the road as well. 6) after turning left from the long route....this route will lead you to Pontian fish market....it also the same direction to kukup. Help1 1st Gear February 5, 2009 Share February 5, 2009 yep is fresh as claimed by my dad who has been religiously go there every month for many many years liao....infact my grandma house is just directly opposite the fish market...i duno how to describe the direction but we always travel via woodlands checkpoint.... there are 2-3 friendly stores selling movies, music nearby..... Karpi Neutral Newbie February 5, 2009 Share February 5, 2009 TO ADD: sorry abit messy ======== this route onward is all the way straight to reach pontian, no need turn left or right ========== 6) after turning left from the long route....this route will lead you to Pontian fish market....it also the same direction to kukup. From here, just take note of the sign board will do..(takes about another 20mins to reach pontian...) 7) from here, before u reach Pontian, u will 1st passby Pekan Nanas village/town.... ADD Note: to reach exact location(fish market), u should be driving towards kukup....which required u to TURN LEFT when u reach pontian Landmark to turn left to Kukup= Dilapidated petrol kiosk on your right (ESSO or caltex, can't remember) ** after turning left towards Kukup, the fish market is somewhere at your RIGHT. Fassler at Woodlands Terrace sees a lot of J registered plates going there to get frozen salmon, cod, scallops and the like. Imported stuff in MY costs a lot and includes these "exotic fish". Wizzercool 1st Gear February 5, 2009 Author Share February 5, 2009 (edited) Hi Karpi , I did a cross reference check with Google Map using your instructions, it seems that the place is called Pontian Kecil, junction between Jln Pontian and Lebuhraya Skudai-Pontian (highway). I heard that the fish is fresh (just out of the water) and about 50% cheaper than SG 3. It is fun to drive. 4. I never been there, so it is a challenge that I will take on. 5. M'sian petrol is cheap. Even though it is 50% cheaper but you can only bring in 5Kg of seafood. I thought some seafood in Jusco are already 50% cheaper than in Singapore.
