Just curious to understand if it is worth while to upgrade from my previous HU tranfered to my new ride to other HU

Currently using;

HU-Sony GT700

Front-Helix dark blue

Rear-Helix blue

Amps-Soundstream picasso 4x100

Sub-Steelemate active sub

Was wondering if should be going for P80, 9887 or others.

Music preference: jazz, techno, dance, R&B, pop, rock, guess its everything. [hur]

sound system is very personal. your decision will depend on the satisfaction

from your current HU: good? not good enough? some may need basic sound,

some have more 'cultured' ears ... so if all depends on you.

the road to ICE nirvana is neverending.

watch your pocket.

Pioneer P80RSII is more of a dynamic HU

Alpine 9887 is more towards warmth

but with the right tuning both HUs can match what you want to hear. however take note that alpine's radio reception is not as good as pioneer's. both HU can enable you to run active (more amps need = more formula M)

but if you got the budget. then P90 + DEQ90 is the best choice juz below the famous alpine F#1

there are other HUs out there like the clarion D1 & D2, eclipse 7200MKII and Nakamichi CD700II

so go out there n listen the setups then make your choice. then next will be your speakers, amps, subwoofer, caps, wiring... welcome to the ICE journey [thumbsup]

Good point.

In fact just check with my installer, he only advice that unless I'm going active setup, its pointless to change the HU. And furthermore he added that if going active advantage of P80 is less things need to add as compared to 9887.

Guess I should just keep my HU and enjoy. Maybe focus on next rims & tyre upgrade to 16".... lol
