There is really no "normal rate", the range is really quite wide if you (or rather your friend) check around. If you're between 2k to 4k still not that bad. Anything above 4k (for your friend's undisputed case) is... If you are able to locate a good lawyer, some even allow instalment if the client is tight finally.
