When they add "luxury" like better sound insulation to their cars, this is one example that adds weight to the car. In terms of using light weight material like Aluminum is more expensive as compared to Steel, so more Steel is used to keep the building cost down.

I have come across hardcore trackie who told me the rear folding seats are heavy and he removed them. He told me his car's folding rear seats weigh around 90kg and most of it comes from the hinges, the seats are non-leather ones. [rolleyes]

Bottom line I guess the weight of the car does brings concern to FC, especially when you drive your whole family and barang barang from place to place.

Nope... other than weight, there are still other factors like power steering type and air con compressor used. The amount of items that the engine is required to power is proportional to the FC.

The engine itself also plays a big part. Not all engines from different brands are made the same.

I saw the brochures which are released only to the sales people. The kerb weight includes 75kg driver weight.

is this the definition of kerb weight? May we take it that all kerb weights quoted by manufacturers include this 75kg?
