Which spark plug's brand is the best?

In Singapore, Denso and NGK brands are quite common.

 

As for the main material;

Of course, Copper is the best but lifespan is only 10k mileage.

Whereby, Iridium is 60k mileage.

Typical ones are about 20k mileage.

I've a friend who drove a stream and used PI stock spark plug for more than 60K. He only changed it recently after I told him that Kah Motor change for customer every 30K. To me, stock is still the best compromize. Moreover they are free for 30K servicing. How much bhp do you think you can gain by changing to aftermarket spark plug?

Just my sharing:

 

In the first ever batch of the original Mazda3 that came to singapore in 2004, the factory fitted iridium plugs lasted over 120,000km on my dad's car. Not kidding. Service record showed no change plugs along the way at all.

 

I asked the Mazda Motor to check, their technician said its still in servicable condition even at the 120k serivce. But as me and my dad felt that the power went down and FC went up, we went to our trusted mechanic to change to Firestorm which greatly improved power and FC.

 

But I understand that the subsequent batches of Mazda3 did not come with iridium plugs, it only came with the cheap $20-for-4 borsch plugs which one has to replace at every 10k service interval.

To me, this will depend on what car you're driving because for some cars, getting a top grade iridium plug will show no improvement over stock copper ones.

Back when i was driving a Hyundai Getz, the stock NGK copper shows the same results as the Denso Iridium.

Ultimately, cost effectiveness played more important part.

The stock NGK plugs were $2.50 each...so for 4pc it was also $10..the densos were $60, 6x the price.

I ended up using the NKG copper and changed them as and when i felt like it :) ALthough if you really calculate, it's about the same thing...just that i know i'l have brand new plugs every 10k rather than the same old plugs for 60k

 

But now, I've tried Densos, and Brisks...and personally, i prefer the Brisks much more than the Densos...Brisks last only 20k but the power and smoothness of the drive beats the Densos hands down...

However, i've heard the Volker Iridiums are also good and last longer than Densos...but i also heard people on Volker change to Brisks and also prefer the brisks...so up to personal budget la..for me, if you want long lasting and good...go Volker, you want performance and can afford to change often, go Brisks :)

personal feedback i find denso iridium spark plug better. the tip will nt become round after 60k of driving.

Has anyone used OWS Iridium plugs before?

 

I went to a new workshop few months ago. They claim my old plugs no good. It's bosch Platinum. I said ok...then changed to what? They suggested OWS Iridium. 4 plugs got promo. $100 only. But still need to add labour of $20. So end up $120. Then I agreed after much reluctance.

 

But after changing, I feel sometimes there's some hesitation. Especially when revving high, you can feel sometimes it's losing a beat or something. Then I went back after a month. Then they told me...some customers also complained especially those CNG cars. Me also CNG. Ok. So they took it out and gave me 4 normal plugs for free. But it was worse. Misfire until like crazy. I think my W210 cannot use normal plugs? Coz when I go spare parts shop, they normally will tell me to use the Bosch Platinum.

 

So I just bought back the bosch platinum plugs again. Will bring back to the workshop and get them to change it for me for free. Sigh. What a bad recommendation on the OWS....

 

Btw, my W210 is using ignition guns and they are all newly changed (and no problem when using the old bosch plats)

that's probably because your stock plugs are iridium or platinum.

 

for those whose stock plugs are copper, can probably benefit from iridium plugs as they don't have to change so often.

 

anyway, toyota, one of my least fav brand, the recommended spark plug changing interval is 100k for the stock iridiums [flowerface]

err... how do u define a best "brand"? [sleeping]

 

it is more objective if u compare the performance of similar plugs across those brands u listed

 

or if u want to .. do a poll on the brand of plugs we are currently using <_<
