yeah, mine 4.5 years old. Intend to drive until scrap if it doesnt give major problems.

Whats one way alarm? I installed a cheapo alarm many years ago and even that cost 150 if I could recall.

Actually the remote controls served me well until earlier today. I changed batt but it didnt help. So I changed to the spare remote....also konked. Maybe too long never use. [sweatdrop]

1 way alarm is those alarm like ur stock alarm.. 2 way alarm is those that will give feedback via ur remote and tell u something wrong with ur car..

1 way can give "instructions" to car but car cannot give back..

anyway, if never use appliance for very long, best is to remove the battery.. i got no spare "spare" remote cos me and mom both holding on to 1 remote.. [drivingcar]

Turbocharged

This remote is lousy compared to those that came with earlier model Sunny non-FL version. I got this remote as well with my current sunny in 2005... still working!

Basically, it tends to quit when dropped... Did you drop your remote recently on a hard surface?

What I found is that the battery contacts are badly designed... no 'springiness' at all. You need some spring action there to hold the battery tight and ensure good contact.

I bent the contacts slightly, as much as possible without snapping them, before slotting in a new battery... have you tried??

Lastly, before you condemn the remote... pls check the voltage of the battery you bought 'new'... is it 12 volts? Don't assume it is... I had this experience whereby supposedly 'new' 12V battery bought from shop was only putting out 9V or so...

Yup, try all the above first.

thats right! exactly what I did this morning. Borrowed a multimeter and the new batt was only 7v! at least the old batt gave 10v.

The batt contact for one of the remotes wasnt very good and I tried bending it with a plier. It came off w/o any effort...lousy solder joint [sweatdrop]

Had to solder it back again and it was ok. Anyway, the batt I bought is energizer...never thought it could be so lousy. Went to a hw shop and bought a GP...this time I inserted into the remote on the spot. Both worked perfectly. At least can save some $$$ during this difficult times. [thumbsup]
