Passport renewal for Myanmar maid

Hi Bro & Sis,

 

Anyone got experience to renew passport for Myanmar maid?

 

I heard the agency will only for the work permit renewal, the maid/ owner need to go embassy to do the passport renewal. Need to go 3 am or 4 am to collect the queue no.

 

Need to pay 10% Tax for past 2 years Salaries and Passport cost $300++

 

Anyone has any experience to advice?

Actually there is 2 way, one is to pay agent to get it done locally, around $1k+. Another way is to let the maid go back and renew at their country. Both way, the maid pays for it, not you. You just need to pay for the flight expense only(either by cash to her, if not going back). Many maid choose to renew in Singapore because it is more convinent and less hassle. The embassy only want money.

The risk for her to renew back home is higher because the passport department knows they are working as maid here, so how much they demand and when it will be extended, we don't know. My myanmar maid also choose to renew in singapore, many of her friends also advise her to do it here.

Hi guys,

 

Just some updates.

 

On Wed about 10pm, I send my maid to the Myanmar embassy. She was 1st to be there, we took out an A4 size paper to write her name and passport no. on that paper and put in their letterbox (which can be opened and let others to write on the waiting list).

 

The next day morning (Thur), we reach to the embassy again @ 530am, the list already have 18 entries. There are some people waiting outside the main gate.

 

I asked my maid to wait and told her I will come back to fetch her in the afternoon.

 

About 10:30am, she told me she is done, passport renewed foranother 3 years.

 

Damage:

 

Passport renewal: $300

Tax: $360 (10% of 1 year salary)

 

I told my maid, I am paying all these on her behalf (some of her mayanmar friends pay by themselves); she better work properly.

 

Things to bring:

 

1. Passport

2. Work permit pass

3. Photo copies of passport & work permit pass

4. Cash

5. Food and water ( to consume while waiting)

There is a limited no. of passport renewal they will do everyday. I was told by the security guard, if you are the last in the queue; can wait for the whole day till 530pm.

 

The next step, I will hand over her passport and work permit pass to her agency for work permit extension. About another $250 damage.

thks bro Yaloryalor for e update...... mi has done some homework meself. renewal don ve to leave it to e agency n let them earn cos its rather ezy as all its all on-line. call ntuc income tat u 1 2 buy maid insurance n paid thru visa n they will link to e MOM. From there, juz apply ext Wp on line thru MOM website n tats all. mom will advice u to go down n collect a new WP......cheers.

I suggest you call up the Myanmar embassy in sg. Ask them how to get it done. Depend on how flexible is your time schedule. Maybe you can save the agent fee. Or let the agent do the running for you. Very much up to you.

I think just pay $250 let the agent do. Not too ex. Cos if can save I suppose maybe jus tens of dollars.

insurance is ard $192, so i guess u shld save ard 50 bucks.

 

i believe e agent is also doing it on line n later get their own courier guy 2 collect WP when its done.
