[confused] Which one will you choose?

paint ur calipers? - did it before, now and then re-coat till paint too thick. not easy to clean cause brake dust like to stick deep into the high temp paint...

brake covers? - plus point cleaning is so much easier! but many say calipers cant breath... silicon might fall off... made in china ones might melt... screw or rivet might damage or weaken calipers... worse is tat cover so big disc so small look funny... like poser... wat u think?

upgrade disc to slotted or drilled - logically better performance? but daily stop go traffic in SG my friends use say pads finish faster... hmmmm... true?

upgrade disc and rotors - unless you get ENDLESS or SPOON or Brembo or a good brand (means very expensive) cheaper one i have heard stories of excessive pad wear, leak, loose, not a perfect fit etc... haiz...

So i thought, just spray a nice coat of high temp paint... then it wont look like poser / fake... BUT then i saw this shop in JB had this endless brake cover and my it looked good... really having 2nd thoughts now... i checked on the net (cgi.ebay.com.sg/RED-ENDLESS-Caliper-cover-kit)...and found out thailand does soooooo many types... think i might... just might.. maybe will try the brake covers... anyone knows where to get in SG? the latest endless types...

For daily driving purposes, change to a better set of brake pads will do. If you want more, go for stainless steel brake hose. After that, if you wanna look nice and more performance, can consider slotted rotors. That is about it.

In my opinion, the rest doesn't matter much.

thanks but is it true that slotted disc are not much use for daily driving infact even less braking power? i mean civic type r and rex juz to name a few even stock disc are not slotted... wonder why?

For normal day to day driving... having slotted or drilled rotors is an overkill.

yup... but to confirm does the slots and holes make cold brakes less efficient? or it would have warmed up already after reaching a higher speed..

Anyone with UPGRADED disc rotors care to share? many thanks.

i think should be to look nice AND perform... heehee [laugh]

I will like to see how the plastic caliper covers "perform" when they come loose during driving inside your wheel. [flowerface]

Slotted rotors allow for better heat disspation of your brake pads. Thus, there is an improvement in your brake performance.

As to why Type R and Rex are using stock discs, I have no idea.

There may be people who upgrade because slotted or drilled rotors look nicer. [inlove]

For me I leave it alone. Stock rocks!

Paint / cover later people say poser, no $$ yet wanna chiong 'big card' IMHO like carry fake branded hand bag.

"upgrade" brake system to me is like invite trouble. Later fit not good, oil leak, lots of dust etc... $$ spend already + headache + heartache.

Touch wood, it fails, crash blame who?

For day to day transport driving IMHO keep it stock, extra $$ go have a good meal lagi shiok.

But lets say track car is different lah

So if you upgrade both your calipers and your rotors which means your braking power had a drastic increase over the power output from your stock engine. Does that mean most of the time you will lock your wheels during normal braking?

It depends mainly on your purpose. To look nice or to perform.

Agree with Nicholasl. To look good or to perform? if the intention is to look good, then painting callipers (sporty red or any other bright colour) or even a simple of screw-on <Brembo> covers will do the trick, not forgetting this is not expensive. A Brake Rotor (slotted/cross drilled or both) upgrade, with 4/6 pot calliperes not only looks super good, but also enhances your braking, especially for done up cars. [thumbsup][thumbsup][thumbsup]

Actually, slotted/cross drilled rotors are not overkilled at all. Most Jap/Korean cars come with standard disc brakes due to to costing. Better or more expensive cars come with slotted/cross drilled rotors. Slotted rotors help to reduce brake dust while cross drilled preventingd overheating, and warped up of rotors. [drivingcar]
