Civic2000 Supercharged December 28, 2009 Share December 28, 2009 S'porean's $180,000 Merc stolen from JB car wash during supper No receipt, but stranger still gets Merc key from car wash worker By Zaihan Mohamed Yusof December 27, 2009 A Singaporean businessman had his car stolen at a Johor Baru car wash while he and his friend were having supper on 13 Dec. Known only as Mr Neo, the 34-year-old and his friend were driving back from Malacca to Singapore after a business trip on that day. The pair arrived in JB at about 11.30pm. Mr Neo then drove his brown Mercedes into one of the many car washes along Jalan Datuk Abdullah Tahir. Mr Neo assumed it was safe to leave his car there, as there were other Singapore-registered cars in the queue there, so he left for supper with his friend, after being given a slip of paper with his car plate number. He was supposed to collect his car later with that slip. When the pair returned 30 minutes later, a worker at the car wash told Mr Neo his "friend" had already driven the car away, and nobody - except one staff member - had seen the thief driving it away. Mr Neo demanded to see the car wash owner to no avail, before calling 10 Malaysian friends who came down and ransacked the drawers for the car keys. They could not find the keys. The police arrived shortly after and questioned both the car wash staff and Mr Neo. Mr Neo then lodged a report at 12.21am. Malaysian police told The New Paper on Sunday that four men from the car wash were arrested the same night. The four suspects are currently assisting police with investigations. People who like to have their cars washed in JB, please take note. ↡ Advertisement

Berncsp76 6th Gear December 28, 2009 Share December 28, 2009 haha....from the front page news on Newpaper yesterday. The owner should bear 99% of the blame coz he should remember that he is in a foreign country and he suka suka pass his 180k merc car key to someone he doesnt know and go for his supper? He is really asking for trouble isnt it?? or probably he has too many cars at home so need to dispose of a few...might as well give me better..lol

Heartbreakid 6th Gear December 28, 2009 Share December 28, 2009 Sorry to say, but the owner has to be responsible for himself. It seems like people never learn from others' mistakes. Just reading that news, there are already factors that favour any stealing attempt easily. First, it's late in the night... Second, the car is a Merc... Third, owner shortage of anything but common sense. By putting the car in a place where there are many SG cars doesn't mean that it will be safe. I'm not being sarcastic or what, but why ever let our guards down when we already heard of many of such incidents? Worse part is, gave the key to a stranger and went for supper, isn't that just opens up the chances for stealing?
