Kok Kee serves wonton noodles with a difference. The noodles and wontons are cooked in batches, and then divided into individual portions ($3.50).

The “dry” orders are not so dry since the noodles are deliberately doused with soup and splashed with chilli sauce, which means they are never too starchy or clumpy.

Take-away portions are given the same treatment. A grouchy old man takes orders at the front of the stall and barks them to his wife, who handles the cooking chores.

Every so often, he retreats behind the counter to cook up a new batch of wontons. There is a permanent line here but the noodles are worth the wait.

Kok Kee Wan Ton Noodle
Where: #01-06, Lavender Food Square, 195 Lavender Street
Opening hours: 1 pm onwards (closed Thursdays)

It is nice but find too excessively expensive for the kind of portion they serving. $3.50 size is damn small and $4.50 is already like more ex than some foodcourt wanton noodle which is much higher in rental. I also had the impression they purposely allowed a long queue to form (even though they could have fulfilled the orders earlier) which was perhaps to create a positive image about the quality of their food. The taste is good but wait is too long and price too ex which means from a 8.5/10 rating I have reduced it to 7/10. I understand good food comes at a price but it is way overpriced. I have tasted other wanton noodle which is as good and at $3.50 for similar portion to Kok Kee's $4.50.

I once asked them why theirs cost more....they told me they only use premium char siew....quite true as no fats at all....but then again....good things are never cheap...well as long as it's not S$10 per plate...I think it's still not too rich for my blood....for the time being...

really honestly, i dun find them damm good.....

first of all, i dun believe in spending too much time to queue for food. waste of time... u spend more time to queue more than u spend time eating it......... is it really worth?

secondly, i like more of the black sauce type of wanton noodle....

thirdly, its too expensive.... 3.50, but its so little.... 4.50 is still not much.... a big eater can easily eat 2 plates

I think the famous wanton noodle at clementi central hawker centre which was once featured on one of the channel 8 foodies program is at least as good, if not better. The wait is also very long but you dun have to stand there to queue and they will send it to you. less expensive also.

what is the avg queueing time for weekends lunch time btw? last time I used to work near there and the usual queueing time during lunchtime weekdays at their stall is like 15 mins. is considered very lucky if happened to queue for only 10 mins. just wondering if weekends queue might be shorter?

Honestly....on average, I've only waited between 5 to 10 mins on most occasions...the longest being 15 mins max when those fellas in front ordered takeaways as well...

Seriously...it's 5 to 10 mins wait on average...only extreme cases like long queues with lot's of takeaways then stretch to 15 mins.....and fyi operation hrs if I'm not wrong is 12.30pm to 3.00am

Closed on either wed or thurs

I always waited for at least 20-30min leh. I like to go there for supper. 11 plus liao still long Q. Worst is when u encounter someone cutting Q. Those who know them (think relatives) can have priority.

Worst days are sat and sun at 10.00pm...queue is the longest...so I avoid those period....but surprising...the pass 2 years of my patronage....average waiting time only between 5 to 10 mins...

Those so-called cutting queues is due to the following reason....if u observe...they are there to pick up their takeaway orders placed earlier....When they first order for dining in....they also placed their takeaway orders...so the store will take note, and tell them to pick up their takeaway after they are done with their dining in....u wanna jump queue...dun even think abt it...coz the lao uncle and aunties will KPKB at u if u dare pull such a stunt nod.gif
