(*another S$1,000 off VW models should you take an in-house loan)

" Managing director of Harvest Automobiles, Daniel Au, acknowledged the premium price tag, saying, "The Yeti is really something that has to be seen and experienced. Since the launch, we've had lots of customers come down, it's really pulling the crowd and we've taken a few orders already."

Au is bullish on the brand's revival in Singapore, saying "We're going to try to put as many cars on the road as possible, now that we've got a full range of cars to sell. All of us are really motivated, the pricing is attractive, the models are great and we've got lots of support from the principals. "

what do you guys think???

actually Skoda's design is aimed at the younger market....

but with VW being the parent company of Skoda and one that exudes a better image than a Skoda,

and being priced less (similarly equipped car),

it's really a no brainer to go for the VW....

Skoda is only selling well in the european countries because they have a lot more features for less money....

Why don't you also include their OMV for comparision? Total price value comparsion should also include that into the account as that is how much we can get back when selling/scrapping the car.

OMV values always change with the fluctuations of the currency....

and trading with the current ultra volatile Euro....

couple with the fact that OMV values can be declared by the distributor rather than VW Germany....

what do you wanna compare???

integrity??? trust???

Let me give you an example for your better understanding where am I coming from:

Assuming a Passat is selling at 130k (with an OMV of 20k) vs a Superb selling at 140k (with an OMV of 50k). Which car is more expensive in total?

After 10 years scrapping, we get back 10k from Passat while 25k from Superb.

So the actual total value of Passat is 120k (130k-10k) vs 115k (140k -25k) for Superb, with constant in the curreny exchange rate and COE.

Skoda can claim their OMV for the Superb is $50k,

but when you register the car, it turned out to be $30k....

then they'll say, oh the Euro dropped, that's why....

and eitherway,

a Skoda should never cost more than a VW, no matter the specs....

it just doesn't make sense....

you driving a Skoda aren't you???

oh and the value you get back at the end,

that's assuming you drive the car for the whole of 10yrs....

cos in actual fact,

you'll most probably be selling the Passat and Scrapping the Superb....

cos the Passat will fetch better values in the 2nd hand car market,

whereas the Superb will depreciate like crazy, and makes no sense to sell....

you can always refer to "On paper, black and white",

but reality is always different....

I believe the Fabia is positioned to be slotted between Polo and Golf 1.2 Tsi

Combi and Yeti, no same class comparable cars from VW in my opinion.

Octavia and Superb vs Jetta and CC, similar specs, but diff in trims/ bells and whistles is quite obvious.

There is incremental costs to value, but, is it value for $, that's for the individual consumer to decide.

Even if you sell it to 2nd hand market or scrap it before due date, the OMV will still play a very important part in the resale value.

seriously,

OMV is just a number on paper....

what will attract buyers to a car is the way the dealer packages the car....

throw in lots of features with an affordable price....

that's what sells,

and not the amount of OMV the car carries with it....

OMV is the deciding factor for the price. its not just a number on paper.

OMV will also determine the resale value and scrap value.

What you think will attract buyers to the cars (your list of features) also raises its OMV, in the end the dealer have to sell the car at higher price...

I think you don't realise that harvest is an example of they have given you what you want (being ard for some time i rmb u usually like premium features in a car), now bcos of that the price is now higher than VW, then u say u wun bite. hahaha

ssooo... to summarise...

lower omv... less 'fat' for directors of dealers to cream of..

higher omv... directors live in flood hotspots (bt timah, east coast etc), chg their rides like chg diapers blah blah.. [bounce2]
